What's it all about?

In Europe, Visa has significant grow opportunity within sectors which don’t accept electronic payments or where transaction penetration is below market average. This Senior Business Development Manager will develop and execute strategies to increase acceptance in Visa’s Central Europe region and in the Netherlands in particular. Focusing on specific sectors, segments and geographies where growth has the highest potential.

The Visa Europe Merchants and Acceptance group is also charged with forging and maintaining strategic partnerships with merchants, payment facilitators, payment processors and acquirers to drive sustainable revenue growth while delivering value. The group negotiates and implements major commercial deals (1) to enable these partners to utilize an array of Visa products and services and (2) to enable Visa to drive its strategic objectives.

The Senior Business Development Manager - Merchants is an integral part of the Central Europe acquiring group and will architect successful partnerships that will drive revenues and accelerate solution distributing deals. Responsible for developing regional acquirer strategy with cluster input, identifying emerging regional acquirers or merchants, and bringing together products to build holistic acquirer value proposition.

The position is part of the Merchant & Acquirer Organisation and is based in Amsterdam or Rotterdam.

What we expect day to day

  • Conduct business development with Financial Institutions, Acquirers, and Processors/ Payment Facilitators to expand Visa services aimed at helping acquirers and partners meet merchant and market needs.
  • Support the design of the acquirer value proposition and create strategic, business and financial rationale and analytics in support of commercial deals
  • Create compelling presentations summarizing deal terms and strategic fit for executive review
  • Partner with account owners, where assigned, to negotiate commercial deals and terms with senior executives at potential partners
  • Conduct cross-functional due diligence efforts with prospective partners, including financial, product, technical & systems assessment
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with a variety of global constituents throughout a highly matrixed organizational structure
  • Drive discussions and seek input from relevant constituencies to reach consensus on significant decisions

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between
both home and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three days a week, Monday (Sunday in some countries where Sunday is the start of the week) and Wednesdays. Wednesdays are designated as in-office collaboration days. The third day in the office will be decided based on team needs and determined in partnership with senior leadership. 

Qualifications

 

  • Excellent written and spoken Dutch and English skills.
  • Experience in a relevant role, managing strategic relationships with financial services and/or technology solution providers
  • Payments experience is beneficial but not mandatory, experience working with eg. ERP solutions SAP or Oracle in an account management or business development role considered.
  • Technical acumen and industry knowledge preferred ( eg. Mobile Payments, click to pay)
  • B2B experience supporting entire commercial sales lifecycles.
  • Ability to work independently within a complex and often ambiguous environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across the board.
  • Available to travel up to 1-2 days a week to meet clients across the Netherlands, flexibility to work across borders – with some hybrid working options.
