What’s it all about?

Europe Merchant Sales and Solutions is a team dedicated to serving the needs of our merchant and acquiring partners. The EU Merchant Sales and Solutions team’s mission is to ensure that EU merchant clients prefer Visa. We want our clients to see Visa as a trusted strategic partner that delivers tangible value and is easy to do business with. Our actions are designed to protect and grow payment volume and revenue contributions while increasing the value merchants perceive and balancing the needs of all our stakeholders.

Our team specifically is focused on commercializing existing and new enterprise relationships to drive Visa revenue.  The Account Executive will report to the EU Head of Global Merchant Partnerships within the Merchant Partnerships Development team and will play a key role in managing global merchant clients across verticals.  The AE will be the single point of customer contact and own the client relationship within Europe, and will work to structure and negotiate commercial constructs, proactively source new opportunities, and drive account and market planning. We are a new team – formalized in January of 2019 – and we have team members in London, Frankfurt, Madrid, and Paris. As part of our team, you can expect to have exposure to a broad set of enterprise partners and gain experience working across clusters and functions. You will have frequent exposure to our team’s leadership and play a key role in closing merchant deals across Europe. The ideal candidate will bring passion for and interest in payments, client-facing skills and presence, and knowledge of merchant strategies and priorities and will enjoy creative problem solving, working collaboratively across functions, and have an entrepreneurial mindset.

The nitty gritty

So, what do we expect of you, day to day?

Here’s a bit of a heads up:

  • Manage senior relationships within the merchant partner’s organisation: Actively manage and grow the relationship with a pipeline of enterprise clients, with global headquarter and footprint within Europe. Responsible for the client’s performance and adoption of Visa solutions and acceptance / preference. You will proactively manage the ongoing needs of the client and provide guidance to internal teams to ensure the highest quality customer service on all matters ranging from strategic to executional.  The successful candidate will need to have a pro-active and solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to make an impact in the engagement and relationship with the merchant partner.

  • Execute new partnership deals and scale partnerships: originate, negotiate, execute and manage the customer agreement process ensuring alignment and working closely with a number of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Driving positive merchant outcomes: You will be driving positive merchant outcomes.  Consultatively identifying and prioritizing merchant needs and crafting customized solutions that grow the merchants’ business and increase merchant satisfaction with Visa products/services.

  • Identifying and quantifying merchant investments: You will identify and quantify merchant investments & partnership opportunities that will jointly benefit the enterprise clients and Visa, develop appropriate business cases and forecasts, advocate for funding, track performance/return of invested funds, and use learnings to inform future investments. Gain alignment & client buy-in.

  • Establishing strong internal partnerships: You will establish strong internal partnerships.  Establish fluency in all Visa merchant-facing solutions, PSD2/SCA expertise is a plus.  Collaboratively define responsibilities for various merchant outcomes with internal partners.  Articulate merchant needs and influence product/capability roadmaps by leveraging merchant feedback, endeavoring to break down silos and work together as “One Visa”.

  • As requirements of this role evolve the successful candidate will need to adapt to the growing needs of the broader Merchant Services & Acquiring organization.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between
both home and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three days a week, Monday (Sunday in some countries where Sunday is the start of the week) and Wednesdays. Wednesdays are designated as in-office collaboration days. The third day in the office will be decided based on team needs and determined in partnership with senior leadership.

• Proactive / self-starting, possess a high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build and grow the business, trust and respect with business partners.
• Passionate about what you do, detail-oriented and flexible.
• Excellent listening and communication skills (both verbal and written) and must be able to interface with senior client executives.
• Strong analytical skills and foundation in MS Office programs (especially advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
• Bachelors or Graduate degree preferred
