Job Description

The Security Products team at Visa focuses on delivering the fraud detection and prevention solutions that enable every good transaction to be approved, every bad transaction to be declined, all with a seamless customer experience.   We are looking for product leaders that are passionate about innovation and developing solutions that help identify and mitigate financial fraud as well as maximize approvals of legitimate transactions.

This Staff Product Manager position is a hands-on technical product management role, focused on the delivery of high-value products in an agile, market driven environment. The Staff Product Manager will work closely with other members of the Data, Security and Identity Product team and other cross-functional teams within Visa, Global Services Technology leadership and agile project teams to ensure clarity of vision, requirements, and objectives for Visa Risk Manager (VRM). VRM is an intelligent risk-decisioning solution that leverages VisaNet data and Visa Advanced Authorization (VAA) to give issuers the control and flexibility to manage their risk strategies and authorization performance.

We are looking for an individual with a product management and development background to help us aggressively enhance Visa’s product portfolio by identifying and scoping new offerings, enhancing existing offerings, and deliver truly value-added solutions to the marketplace. This individual will work with experts throughout the company to identify and prioritize development of new and existing products, help execute the launch and/or help drive new product commercialization to target levels of adoption and utilization. The role contributes to the product vision and delivery, including managing functional requirements, feature prioritization, product operations, and on-going product management. He/She will also partner with internal groups to evaluate and articulate the value/business proposition of new features and will also train and be highly consultative to Visa’s client facing teams and regional product leads on the best way for clients to take advantage of the Visa solution and new features. Openness and experience working across disciplines is important.

We are looking for an individual that pays attention to detail, with a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to balance business, technical and people skills and the ability to multi-task across complex projects and diverse solution teams.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Regional Product, Client Services, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Risk, Legal, Technology, and others to support the development of the product roadmap and strategy.
  • Become knowledgeable on Visa Risk Manager and support the product team in driving the development of product features and functionality that deliver substantial value to clients, leveraging the strong foundation of existing capabilities where appropriate.
  • Define and map business requirements for existing and new features for Visa Risk Manager and its APIs accordingly. Ensure product vision and requirements are designed with scalability and long-term vision in mind.
  • Perform the scrum product owner role, including prioritizing features, managing the product backlog, participating in sprint planning, and conducting user acceptance testing to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that aligned with product strategy.
  • Provide support to various customer support teams related to our products, this will include product testing, performance monitoring & analysis, product documentation, and training to ensure and validate successful product delivery
  • Gather data, conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, and apply sound business judgment to surface opportunities, prioritize them and design enhancements.
  • Work independently, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional management while supporting syndication with stakeholders across the organization.

Facilitate the sharing of important and relevant business and client information that results in improved decision making and execution.

  • Hiring location is in Arlington VA, but other Visa US Campus locations may be considered. 

Work Hours

  • Candidate must make themselves available to support clients across global time zones.

Travel Requirements: 

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work no more than 10% of the time

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 5 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD and a history of delivering results

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 + years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Have a strong interest in the field of fraud risk
• Experience in consumer payments with emphasis on remote payments
• Experience in building API based products which can manage high volume, less latency and high availability
• Experience and understanding of product development methodologies
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of- the-box solutions and manage uncertainty
• Detail oriented and highly execution focused by working in conjunction with various counterparts across multiple functional groups
• Excellent process skills including understanding of change management practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and inspire teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) for data analysis and creation of reports and presentations.
• Working knowledge of Agile tools such as Confluence Wiki, Tableau, and JIRA strongly preferred
