Visa in the Netherlands

Visa in the Netherlands forms an important country in the Central Europe (CE) cluster (Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Lichtenstein).  Netherlands is among the Top 15 largest economies in Europe and represents a significant growth opportunity for Visa. V PAY/Visa Debit, Contactless and e/m-commerce have reached a real turning point in the Dutch payment industry, heavily dominated by debit. This will be a key driver for further growth and is imperative to win further share in the market, especially with the Launch of Visa Debit in the market.

By driving consumer and merchant preference for Visa’s products and services, Visa is transforming the way in which it goes to market.  Furthermore, the company is investing in innovation and marketing initiatives to elevate Visa’s position in the payments ecosystem to champion Visa to be everywhere you want to be.

With a number of new market players emerging from across the fintech ecosystem, Visa has the opportunity to harness its global assets to deliver strong loyalty programs for ‘core’ clients and merchants for card payments.  The company is closely collaborating with all key clients in the market and deep partnerships with our clients is a fundamental part of our strategy.  Increasing Visa’s preference in digital will enable Visa to drive its ambitious growth targets on Credit, Debit and Commercial.

This position could also be based in Frankfurt or Vienna.

Job Description

What's it all about?

The Head of Group Clients will be responsible for developing and delivering the business and scorecard targets for our Central European Group Clients, by driving effective sales, account and people management.  The role will lead a team to enable Visa to further build deep relationships with key multi-national clients, predominantly in the ‘core’ part of Visa’s business, with an emphasis on Financial Institutions, but also other current and future multi-national clients. This individual will play a key role alongside other Country Managers and Executives in the Central Europe cluster to represent Visa.  Focus is on delivering the company’s core market mission: growing the business with cards and faster payments that displace cash and ACH payments. By building deep partnerships with our Group clients, opening up access and offering creative solutions, Visa is at the forefront of protecting and growing the company’s brand and market share.

The Head of Group Clients will be responsible for engaging with key stakeholders, internally and externally, operating at a senior level with clients and leading key strategic market and technology developments.  The role will have line management responsibility for sales, and coordinate cross-functional work with product, marketing, finance and merchants-sales departments.

What we expect of you, day to day...

  • Play a leading role in all aspects of the Visa relationship with our Group Clients in Central Europe, supporting the Country Managers and will provide stand-in support where needed.  Lead our team of Group Client Account Executives and Experts to deliver excellent day-to-day support to the client and by providing leadership in an agile working environment to the on-going activities, ensuring plans are on track and executed with the highest standards
  • Work closely with the local Account Leads at Visa working with Group Clients active in up to 20 international markets
  • Build and develop strong relationships with our existing Group Clients in Central Europe. Responsible for collaborating with clients to identify new and ongoing requirements, and introduce new products or services.  Further expanding the relationship, via identifying key needs and creating new transformative opportunities for growth and differentiation of the bank's proposition to its end customers
  • Promoting and overseeing the implementation of new Visa capabilities across all Group Clients. Delivering initiatives that maximize the value of the existing Group Clients’ portfolios. Identifying opportunities for new strategic or tactical cooperation, identify and win potential new Group Clients for Visa in Central Europe. Drive consultative and solution sales efforts within the market and ensure cultural working style differences are understood and respected.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to the team, ensuring maximum efficiency and engagement by managing conflicting and competing demands across multiple client accounts across multiple countries.
  • Lead the annual business and account plans for our Group clients, liaising with the Group Client Account Executives and Experts / Business Development leaders in relation to the product or portfolio.
  • The position is preferably based in Amsterdam, but Frankfurt or Vienna is a possible alternative as well. 

Qualifications

For this role the key skills required are...

  • Extensive experience, including experience in a commercial / sales leadership role within the broader financial services and payments industry
  • Proven Leadership of sales teams of 5 to 10 people in an enterprise or a commercial function of a business where the development and deployment of the digital and customer agenda is a key driver of success.
  • Existing deep industry knowledge with the ability to quickly assimilate the market in which Visa operates to engage with existing clients and develop relationships in line with the market strategy. B2B2C experience, with knowledge of expanding into new customer distribution channels. 
  • Leading key client relationships and growing significant sales portfolios.  Experience of complex and large deal negotiations with a strong network across the broader Financial Services / Fintech sector.
  • Robust decision-making and analytical skills. Strong command of financial, market and consumer data with the ability to grasp complex and detailed issues.  Financially literate with an excellent understanding of risk management. Demonstrated success developing strategy and leading it through to execution and delivery.  Consistent record of having met challenging financial and business targets.
  • Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-cultural, diverse and highly-matrixed organization with the ability to make an impact and gain immediate respect and credibility.
