VERSANT is a leading force in news, sports and entertainment - home to iconic and trusted brands that inspire, inform, and delight audiences. Our unique combination of content, technology and services enriches the cultural fabric, igniting passions, sparking conversations, and connecting people to what they love most.

As an independent, publicly traded company, VERSANT brings together powerhouse cable networks - including USA Network, CNBC, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Golf Channel - with dynamic digital and direct-to-consumer brands such as Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. Together, these businesses reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences across every screen and service.

StockStory, a newly acquired part of CNBC, is building the next generation of AI-powered equity research for individual investors. We continue operating like a startup: small team, high ownership, fast decisions, direct access to leadership, and a culture focused on building rather than managing. At the same time, we have the backing of a large, well-capitalized public company with iconic brands, meaningful free cash flow, and a long-term commitment to investing in data, technology, and our team. That means the upside of a fast-paced builder environment without the fragility and resource constraints of a typical early-stage startup.

VERSANT is an industry-changing media company fueled by innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit. With a strong foundation and a forward-looking vision, VERSANT empowers creativity, embraces change, and drives connection in an ever-evolving world.

Job Description

We're looking for a highly driven and intellectually curious equity and financial data analyst to join our team to build a new generation of AI-powered equity research.

This role is designed for those with a passion for the stock market who are more excited by building scalable systems than by repeating the same analytical process company by company, quarter after quarter. It is especially well suited to people who want to future-proof their investing career by learning how great equity analysis gets translated into software, models, and AI-enabled products.

You will oversee the data ingestion and transformation behind our AI equity research engine: LLM workflows that convert unstructured information into structured signals, and factor models that turn those signals into consistent, scalable outputs for individual investors.

This role sits within a small and growing, high-caliber team where individuals are expected to operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy, supporting core research, product, and modeling decisions while working closely with both the equity research and engineering teams in a highly collaborative, low-bureaucracy environment with direct access to decision-makers.

What You'll Do:

· Extract, organize and ensure accuracy of financial data, KPIs and qualitative information used in analysis of public equities across various industries. Contribute expertise and feedback for building automated systems for data extraction and validation.

· Troubleshoot and rectify data issues that arise in the internal system including interfacing with Engineering and 3rd party data providers when necessary

· Oversee publication of StockStory content to ensure accuracy of research and news content produced, to meet the journalistic standards of CNBC, and to contribute to development of a fact-checking AI agent

· Contribute to earnings season coverage and stock moves coverage, contribute to development of related AI agents.

· Support new feature development and contribute to improving StockStory quantitative factor-based stock picking models

Qualifications

  • What We're Looking For:

    · 2+ years of experience analyzing equity market filings and financial data to support investment teams or sell side research teams

    · Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP), proficiency in reading financial statements across various sectors, including interpretation of earnings results, financial guidance, and changes in reporting conventions

    · Ability to identify the reason(s) why individual stocks or the market as a whole are moving on a given trading day

    · Some experience using LLMs for equity research or data extraction workflows

    · Basic coding or programming experience is a plus but not required
