Job Description

OVERVIEW 

The Line Producer will work closely with Executive Producers, senior and junior producers, and CNBC Operations to build a live news TV program for CNBC International. In this newscast, you will be an integral part of covering the most significant financial news stories of the day.   

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

What you’ll do… 

  • Work with senior and executive producers to build daily rundowns and oversee changes when breaking news hits. 

  • Work with show directors to block and time programming. 

  • Pitch ideas, approve and copy edit scripts, as needed. 

  • Work with producers to come up with the strongest elements for each segment. 

  • Craft headlines and teases that are engaging no matter the time constraint – for both breaking news and scheduled programming. 

  • Write fresh copy, as needed. 

  • Communicate time and roll cues with guests and correspondents. 

  • Work with news desk and booking to request reporters and guests for show. 

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Exemplary editorial judgment. 

  • Successful candidates will be self-starters with superior contacts who can work effectively and creatively under daily deadline pressure. 

  • A collaborative mindset rooted in teamwork, driven by a pioneering spirit that inspires and empowers others to share in your passion and vision. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story. 

  • Willingness to accommodate a demanding production schedule and flexibility to work weekends and some holidays when and as required. 

  • Demonstrated and proven excellent editorial judgement and understanding of journalistic standards. 

  • Strong understanding of markets. 

 

Qualifications

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES 

While not essential for this role, candidates with experience or proficiency in the following attributes tend to excel in this position.       

  • Four (4) or more years of experience working in broadcast, live streaming or cable, with 3 or more years working on live daily shows. 

  • Familiarity with CNBC News standards. 

  • Prior experience at a financial news network
