Job Description
The Regeneration Operator 3 is a comprehensive role that encompasses mobile equipment regeneration, facility-wide water management operations, and leading a team. This position requires expertise in chemical handling, resin regeneration processes, wastewater operations, and facility water balancing. The operator manages the complete cycle of resin handling, including unloading and reloading onto various mobile equipment types, while also overseeing and monitoring resin regenerations, wastewater treatment processes, and maintaining optimal water levels throughout the facility.
Regenerator Operator 3 must be capable of serving as a backup shift lead, demonstrating leadership abilities and comprehensive understanding of all facility processes including dock operations, quality control procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Key Characteristics
- Adherence to Safety Protocols: Rigorous adherence to established safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines is non-negotiable. This includes, but is not limited to, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry protocols, and chemical handling guidelines. We regularly review and update our protocols to reflect best practices and evolving industry standards.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload and production
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Capability to identify and resolve equipment issues or process deviations.
- Decision Quality -The ability to consistently make sound, well-informed decisions is paramount in this role. This involves a comprehensive understanding of the situation, careful analysis of available data, and the foresight to anticipate potential outcomes. A high level of decision quality ensures operational efficiency, minimizes risks, and contributes significantly to the overall success of the team and the organization. It requires a balanced approach, integrating technical knowledge with practical experience, and the capacity to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. - Quality Focus: A critical component of this commitment is the meticulous execution of final quality inspections. Before any product or material is prepared for shipment, a comprehensive and thorough inspection is conducted. This includes a detailed examination to ensure that all specifications are met, all quality parameters are within acceptable ranges, and the product is in perfect condition for delivery. This final inspection serves as a vital safeguard, guaranteeing that only products of the highest caliber leave our facility. Our aim is to ensure customer satisfaction through uncompromising quality and reliability.
- Managing Conflict: In the absence of direct supervision, the Regeneration Operator 3, acting as Shift Lead, assumes critical responsibility for effective conflict resolution within their assigned teams. This necessitates a robust set of interpersonal and leadership skills to maintain a productive and harmonious work environment.
- Attention to Detail:.Completes checklists, performs quality control checks, and follows procedures with attention to detail.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and paperwork.
- Develops standard operating procedures.
- Reliability: Consistent performance and dependability in completing assigned tasks.
- Organization: Maintaining an orderly production area and systematic approach to tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Leading shift safety compliance is critical in following strict protocols, using appropriate PPE, and maintaining a clean work environment and ensuring their shift and other teams, visitors, contractors are also following.
- Scheduling shifts
- Operating and monitoring regeneration equipment
- Managing resin unloading and loading
- Maintaining equipment parameters during startups and shutdowns
- Responsible for managing the day to day operations of the shift
- Facilitates information exchange during shift changes.
- Completes Quality Control documentation in SAP.
- Achieve Ion Exchange Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Contribute to overall KPIs related to:
- Volume
- Hours
- Production
- Cost
- Chemical usage
- Quality (escaping defects)
- "Need to Notify" (NTN) notifications
- Collaborates with the maintenance team on plant and fleet maintenance, including NTNs.
- Responsible for quality control, including mentoring and training shift members on quality processes and procedures. Conducts regular checks of equipment specifications, resin quality, and process effectiveness, specifically testing pH, conductivity/resistivity, silica, and TDS.
- Maintains and orders critical production chemicals.
- Responsible for daily reporting, checking that all documentation is accurate and work has been performed within specifications.
- Assume the role of backup production supervisor as needed, showcasing leadership, coordinating team activities, making operational decisions, and ensuring shift objectives are achieved.
- Conducts final quality inspections, encompassing both physical and documentation reviews, prior to shipment to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
- Lead shift change meetings and EHS moments, and provide regular status updates on equipment readiness. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, and participate in team meetings.
- Participates in training and stays updated on industry best practices to contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting and helping implement process enhancements.
- Assigning designated equipment to orders based on customer requirements and equipment specifications
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrate full comprehensive understanding and execution of facility operations including dock operations, wastewater management, water balancing, quality control procedures, and resin regeneration processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite or Google Workspaces
- Advanced knowledge of SAP
- Frontline leadership/supervisor skills
- Strong Communication
- Mechanical and Technical Aptitude
- Strong understanding of Ion Exchange water treatment technology
- Safety Tools and Systems (Gensuite, LOTO, permitting, emergency response plan)
Preferred:
- Operate Forklift as needed
- Certification in basic Field Training course
Education & Experience
Required:
- HS Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- At least 6 years of experience in a comparable manufacturing and industrial environment involving material and chemical handling
- Experience in leading a project or initiative
- ISO 9001 knowledge and experience with auditing programs
Preferred:
- HS Chemistry knowledge
- Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Manufacturing safety and OSHA regulations
Working Conditions:
- Ability and willingness to work in various weather conditions (indoor / outdoor).
- Ability and willingness to perform physical duties such as lifting to 50 pounds, climbing, working at elevated heights, and manual dexterity.
- Ability and willingness to work in industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities.
- Ability and willingness to travel for install and repair if needed.
- Ability and willingness to work holidays and weekends based on business demand.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and train new employees.
- Lead a team in an industrial environment.
