Job Description

Project Technical Leaders serve as key partners for our customers in the North American market, acting as collaborative technical leaders responsible for supporting the successful sale, system design, execution, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions tailored to our customers' needs.
On complex projects with multiple unit processes, the Project Technical Leader leads a team of Process Engineers to support each project. They are responsible for fostering a collaborative and innovative environment within the team in alignment with the strategy, ensuring effective communication and knowledge sharing, and managing the process deliverables (schedules, assignments, quality). On cross-functional project execution teams, the Project Technical Leader provides strategic direction and facilitates decision making to ensure alignment with project objectives and customer requirements. They cultivate strong working relationships with customers and project stakeholders, promoting teamwork and driving successful project delivery.


The Project Technical Leader leverages their strong technical experience to lead the development of the overall treatment solution with the team of Process Engineers, considering customer requirements, safety factors, and feedstock quality and quantity and customer needs. Process Engineering responsibilities include: defining the design basis, process design (process flow diagram [PFD], process design parameters, mass balance), proposal Process & Instrumentation Diagram [P&ID] development, process narrative, hydraulic profile, ownership of process guarantees, leadership of process design reviews, risk management, preliminary equipment and instrumentation selections, participating in HAZOPs, successful process start up, performance testing, and on-going
operations support. The Project Technical Leader also advises and collaborates with project and services teams on execution P&ID development, control narratives, equipment and instrumentation selection, operability, safety and regulatory considerations, commissioning activities, and operations support. If challenges arise, they lead the troubleshooting effort and resolution.
We are looking for a Project Technical Leader with experience in complex incineration solutions for the Biosolids market, leadership skills to guide process engineers and project teams, and the ability to partner with customers to deliver exceptional experiences.

Qualifications

Core Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities (within and/or outside of the workplace),encompassing the ability to set and communicate a vision, align and inspire a team towards shared objectives, train and coach others, and confidently make effective decisions with limited information under evolving conditions
  • Proven track record of effectively collaborating and building strong partnerships with customers, understanding their needs, and delivering solutions that exceed their expectations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Engineering field (advanced degrees are welcomed, but not required), or another technical discipline such as Science combined with related experience
  • At least 10 years (15 or more preferred) of related experience, with an emphasis in design and/or operation of biosolids incineration solutions. Candidates with process engineering experience, as well as those with proven leadership experience from other relevant disciplines within this industry, will be considered.
  • Biosolids industry experience in the incineration of biosolids, including: designing incineration systems using high temperature fluidized bed (HTFB)
  • incineration technology and/or multiple hearth incineration technology, including natural gas feed and burner systems, furnaces, stacks, CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring System), and air pollution control equipment (e.g. scrubbers, etc), conducting heat and mass balance and thermal calculations
  • P&ID development, equipment sizing & selection, control strategies, startup, operations and troubleshooting, safety and regulatory compliance

Useful skills and abilities

  • Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills in English for customer facing communication (including presentations), as well as internal collaboration and influence
  • Biological modeling tools such as Biowin, GPS-X, SIMBA, SUMO, etc.
  • Professional Engineer’s Licence
  • Critical and creative thinking, and ability to evaluate among numerous options with good judgement
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Salary Range: $97,845 - $178,000
