The role

We’re looking for a Systems Engineer and a Senior Systems Engineer to help improve how Vector’ capability in areas of asset management systems, processes, governance and information and novel approaches for the management of its low-voltage network assets. Working across engineering, operations, technology and asset management, you’ll strengthen the maintenance, investment and operational decisions doe the low-voltage network and wider electricity asset management practise. Your work could include improving asset data quality, developing governance frameworks, defining requirements for new systems and analytics, engineering decisions for low-voltage network assets and turning network, smart meter and asset information into practical insights.

These roles offer the opportunity to fundamentally reshape how we manage our low-voltage network assets. You’ll challenge long-established approaches and help build new, data-led ways of working, with exposure to asset intelligence, predictive maintenance, advanced analytics and AI-enabled solutions. It’s a broad developmental opportunity with genuine variety, significant influence and strong future career pathways across engineering, asset management, systems, data and governance.

At Senior level, you’ll provide technical leadership, lead complex cross-functional initiatives, develop frameworks and governance arrangements, and build capability in others. At Systems Engineer level, you’ll focus more on delivery and execution while developing your broader systems-thinking capability. At either level, you’ll have the freedom to take ownership, work across multiple disciplines and help create new approaches rather than simply maintain established practices.

Who are we looking for?

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant field, supported by experience in asset management, engineering systems, asset information, data governance, analytics or a related specialist area
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking capability, with an understanding of data quality, asset information governance and how information can support better asset-management decisions. Senior candidates will bring deeper expertise and experience leading complex system, governance or assurance improvements
  • An adaptable and curious approach, with the confidence to work across changing priorities, challenge established practices and deliver practical progress without waiting for perfect information
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to translate complex technical or data concepts for non-technical audiences, facilitate discussions and influence people across different teams
  • Experience in utilities, critical infrastructure, LV networks, distributed energy resources, smart meter data, predictive maintenance or technology-enabled asset management would be advantageous.
