Company Description
Vattenfall is a leading European energy company driving the transition to a sustainable energy system. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We employ around 21 000 people mostly in our core markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK.
Job Description
Want to be in your element working for fossil freedom using the power of wind and the sun?
We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to help us reduce technical risk and accelerate delivery across offshore wind projects. By embedding systems engineering excellence and driving digital integration, you’ll play a key role in enabling Vattenfall’s mission to power a fossil-free future.
You will join our business unit Offshore Wind, within the Systems Integration team (covering Systems Engineering & Interface Management). Our mandate is to integrate stakeholders, systems, and information across complex, multi-partner wind-farm projects - reducing technical and delivery risk while enabling reuse, standardization, and lower levelized cost of energy. We implement standards-based systems engineering practices and toolchains that connect development, engineering, procurement, construction, and operations.
Be in your element with BA Wind
As part of BA Wind you will play a key role in one of the most exciting pipelines in the industry with 24GW of capacity stretching out more than a decade ahead across our key European markets.
You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting-edge innovation, new business models and ways of working with communities and the environment. Working as part of a leading European utility also means you could be helping a growing number of major businesses and brands achieve their own sustainability goals through partnerships.
Qualifications
Your role / what will you do?
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead the implementation of our Requirements Management System (RMS) - Siemens Polarion -[CP1] [SK2] and embed ISO/IEC 15288 and INCOSE [SK3] practices across priority offshore wind projects. You’ll define and apply improvement frameworks to elicit, structure, trace, verify, and validate requirements; translate business demands into features and tasks; and integrate the RMS with adjacent tools and project governance. During your tenure, you may also be called upon to support technical solution development (use cases, needs, and concepts) and the delivery of Systems Engineering (SE) processes on key projects - building momentum, enabling adoption, and reducing risk in multi-technology, multi-commodity, multi-partner environments.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead SE Adoption: Champion systems engineering across BU Offshore Wind; act as Technical Authority and Process Manager for SE.
- RMS Ownership (Polarion): Co-drive the roadmap with the System Owner; manage the backlog; steer scrum workstreams; track delivery and benefits.
- Standards & Methods: Tailor and deploy ISO/IEC 15288 / INCOSE practices; author a Systems Engineering Management Plan and Requirements Management Plan integrated with project governance.
- Requirements Excellence: Enable high-quality, traceable, and verifiable requirements, with clear links to verification evidence and contractual deliverables.
- Toolchain Integration: Oversee interactions and the integration between RMS and the wider digital landscape.
- Change & Enablement: Train and support users; identify pilots for new capabilities; capture and implement feedback; standardize successful approaches into reusable frameworks.
- Innovation: Contribute to MBSE practices and apply state-of-the-art GenAI/NLP for requirements improvement and decomposition.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Connect engineering, contract management, procurement, project delivery, operations & maintenance, and partners; expand and implement SE use cases.
Your profile / who are you?
You are a systems thinker with a strategic mindset who enjoys turning complexity into clear, testable requirements and robust interfaces. Empathetic and diplomatic, you bring people with you through change - explaining the “why,” not just the “what.” You thrive in dynamic, multi-stakeholder environments, communicate fluently across disciplines, and take pride in delivering on commitments with high quality and resilience.
Next to this you bring:
- 7+ years applying Systems Engineering across multiple lifecycle stages in complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Demonstrated experience across a breadth of ISO/IEC 15288 technical processes; INCOSE certification (or equivalent) highly recommended.
- Hands-on experience implementing RMS/ALM tools (preferably Siemens Polarion) and integrating them into project governance.
- Exposure to MBSE practices and/or AI/NLP for requirements is advantageous.
- Offshore wind experience is a plus (not required).
- Strong command of English (written and spoken); excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Comfortable working cross-culturally in hybrid/remote teams; willing to travel between core countries (Amsterdam, Hamburg, Kolding, London).
We look forward to receiving your application!
Location Kolding, Denmark - Amsterdam, Netherlands.
