Requirements;
Energy Market Literacy: Solid understanding of the UK energy retail landscape, including industry settlement, metering types (SMETS1/2), and regulatory bodies. With the ability to interpret technical industry designs into business requirements. Knowledge of MHHS and/or Smart Metering Programmes would be beneficial but not essential.
Analytical Frameworks: Proficiency in business analysis methodologies (e.g., BPMN, UML, User Story mapping) and tools like Jira or Confluence.
Data Fluency: Ability to query and analyse data sets to validate requirements and support evidence-based decision-making.
Regulatory Interpretation: Experience in deconstructing complex industry code changes into logical business rules.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex information into useful management insights, and a proven ability to interview subject matter experts and facilitate workshops to reach consensus on solution design.
Project Documentation: Able to produce formal project documentation

The Commercial Energy team at UW is accountable for driving the optimisation of our energy P&L, ensuring our customers get the most from their energy provision. The team look to ensure existing customers have the best deals whilst future-proofing our energy supply and contracts. It's a team of absolute experts who thrive on cutting through the complexity to get to the heart of the commercial drivers of our success.
This role will report into the Energy Programme Manager and will work with a wide range of stakeholders across the business in Operations, Product and Technology as well as key external suppliers.

As a Business Analyst, you will be the analytical engine behind our most critical energy and metering initiatives. Working in tandem with the Project Manager, you will translate complex industry regulations and business needs into clear, actionable business requirements. You will bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that our systems and processes are robust, compliant, and optimised for a changing energy market.
What you’ll do
Requirement Gathering: Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business requirements for energy industry changes and metering projects.
Process Transformation: Map "As-Is" and "To-Be" operational processes, identifying gaps, efficiencies and ensuring smooth transitions for our teams.
Industry Data Mapping: Analyse and document complex industry data flows to ensure technical builds align with energy market standards.
Functional Specification: Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to translate business needs into detailed user stories and functional specifications.
Testing Support: Define acceptance criteria and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure delivered solutions meet the original business intent and regulatory standards.
Impact Analysis: Conduct thorough impact assessments on proposed changes, highlighting risks to customer journey, data integrity, or operational cost.
Successful delivery of energy-critical projects (e.g., Smart Metering/MHHS milestones).
