Harbour: online solutions at Ubisoft
As Ubisoft’s online platform developer, Harbour helps bring high-quality connected experiences to millions of players worldwide. Working alongside production teams, we leverage state-of-the-art solutions to enable value-filled features in all our online games – throughout their development and while they’re live. With a view of Ubisoft’s entire digital ecosystem and a long-term approach to online gaming, we focus on finding the right solution for the right purpose. And if the solution we need doesn’t exist yet? That’s just an opportunity for us to create it.
As a Programming Team Lead within Harbour, you'll oversee a small group of back-end programmers to develop innovative solutions that let Ubisoft production teams give players new, reliable, connected, and rewarding online experiences.
Regardless of the specific product, you'll be responsible for planning, following up on your team's work, and helping them develop new features to resolve interesting problems.
Your team will accomplish everything it sets out to do because of your technical expertise, leadership, and skill at making sound choices. You're great at inspiring your team and creating a culture of listening that motivates people to take initiative and be accountable.
What you'll do
A typical week will include prioritizing and anticipating issues to deliver optimized, reliable, and scalable solutions. Looking ahead, you'll help plan the roadmap and future features for the long term. Although you may spend some time programming, that won't necessarily be the case based on the project.
You'll follow up with Harbour partners and users on game production teams. You'll work with your direct supervisor, as well as technical experts assigned to the project.
The well-being of others matters to you. You'll meet team members regularly, listening attentively and giving constructive feedback.
You'll also talk about ways to improve processes, identify dependencies, and share technologies with managers from your project and other projects.
What you bring
- Experience developing and managing online solutions, including:
- DevOps and SRE practices
- microservice architecture
- RESTful APIs
- cloud technologies (ex. AWS, GCP, etc.)
- containerization and orchestration technologies (ex. Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, etc.)
- CI/CD pipelines (ex. GitLab)
- In-depth knowledge of at least one of these programming languages: C#, TypeScript, NodeJS, Python, Go
- Experience managing teams (ideally using Agile methodology)
- An innovative spirit: you're regularly on the lookout for ways to improve in a constantly evolving environment
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- A desire to continually learn new cloud technologies (the technologies that power the massive Harbour platform are always in motion, the team, too)
Just a heads up: If you require a work permit, your eligibility may depend on your education and years of relevant work experience, as required by the government.
