Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-calibre Senior Cost Manager to lead the commercial delivery of diverse, high-value projects across commercial office fit‑outs, textile manufacturing facilities, and residential developments.
This is a strategic, client-facing role where you will drive cost leadership, commercial excellence, and value optimisation across the full project lifecycle. You will play a key role in delivering best-in-class outcomes while working in fast-paced, design-led and execution-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership & Cost Strategy
- Take ownership of end-to-end cost management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial control.
- Deliver data-driven cost strategies to ensure projects are completed within budget while maximising value.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on commercial, procurement, and value engineering decisions.
Cost Planning & Pre-Contract Excellence
- Lead preparation of feasibility studies, cost plans, and benchmarking analysis.
- Provide expert cost advice throughout design development, particularly for:
- Corporate office fit-outs
- Textile and industrial manufacturing facilities
- Residential developments (mid to high-rise / mixed-use)
- Challenge designs to optimise cost, efficiency, and buildability.
Procurement & Contract Management
- Develop and execute robust procurement strategies across multiple project types.
- Lead tendering processes including commercial evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.
- Manage complex contracts, ensuring risk mitigation and commercial compliance.
Post-Contract & Financial Control
- Lead cost reporting, cash flow management, and financial governance.
- Oversee variations, change control, and contractor claims management.
- Drive accurate final account settlement and commercial close-out.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Build strong relationships with clients, developers, consultants, and contractors.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear, strategic commercial updates.
- Influence key decisions through commercial insight and industry expertise.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead, mentor, and inspire Cost Managers and Assistant Cost Managers.
- Drive high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
Risk Management & Value Engineering
- Identify and proactively manage commercial and project risks.
- Lead value engineering initiatives to enhance cost efficiency and project outcomes.
- Ensure alignment between cost, programme, and design intent.
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Professional accreditation (e.g. MRICS or equivalent) is highly preferred
- 10-15 years of experience in cost management / commercial roles
- Proven track record delivering projects across:
- Office fit-out / corporate workplace projects (CAT A & CAT B)
- Industrial / textile manufacturing facilities
- Residential developments (high-rise, mixed-use, or landed)
- Experience in a cost consultancy or client advisory environment is highly desirable
- Strong exposure to multi-package procurement and fast-track project delivery
