Under the direction of the Director of Project Development and Staff Competency, the Senior Clinical Educator develops, implements, and provides staff education and competency related to assigned projects.  Focus will be on onboarding of clinical field nurses, including new grads.   Assist the Director of Project Development and Staff Competency with initiatives assigned. Acts as educator to improve and enhance functional capabilities of all licensed and non-licensed personnel and volunteers by the provision of orientation, continuing education and in-service programs. 

Essential Functions 

  • Enhances professional growth through attendance at in-services, conferences, and professional organizations. 
  • Report any non-adherence, poor performance, identified risk to the individual staff member and relevant line manager. 
  • Collaborate with service manager working with staff who are underperforming and providing objective assessment reviewing performance. 
  • Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of what to report to the CEO or Chief Compliance Officer when concerns of corporate compliance arise.   
  • Ensures compliance within guidelines set forth by regulatory agencies (DPH, ERISA etc.) and demonstrates compliance with Tufts Medicine Care at Home policies and procedures. 
  • Practices confidentiality principles set by the agency and federal HIPAA/HITECH guidelines. 
  • Work cooperatively with all department managers, administration and Human Resources to develop, implement and document orientation of all agency staff. 
  • Assess individual employee learner needs to allow for flexibility and judgment in the orientation content. 
  • Assist orientees in identification of specific goals for orientation and develop individualized plan. 
  • Assist with the coordination of CPR instruction and appropriate documentation for professional staff. 
  • Convenes and chairs project and performance improvement teams as assigned. 
  • Become certified in Lean Six Sigma 
  • Participates in epidemiology and risk reduction for patients, staff, visitors, and other healthcare disciplines. 
  • Participates in daily operations of the infection prevention/control program in collaboration with the Clinical Leadership. 
  • Promotes safe work practices and ensures that infection prevention and control measure in the work environments are maintained. 
  • Uses and supports epidemiological principles and methods for identification and prevention of infectious diseases to patients and healthcare workers. 
  • Oversees, studies, and educates on all aspects of operations related to surveillance, prevention and control of infections for all patient populations. 
  • Assist in the assessment of staff education needs audit, results from clinical record reviews, patient satisfaction surveys, incident reports and external auditors. 
  • Provide and/or arrange for In-service Programs to meet staff needs as identified in surveys, needs assessments, strategic plans etc. 
  • Works collaboratively with College Programs to assist students with a home care clinical placement and experience across multiple disciplines. 
  • Works collaboratively with managers to coordinate student placements in the agency. 
  • Provide and arrange agency orientation for students. 
  • Maintains membership in the Northern Essex Community College Nursing Advisory Committee and attends quarterly meetings. 
  • Assist in development, implement and document annual professional competencies. 
  • Participate in review and evaluate the competency program for professional staff.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work & Travel 

This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some flexibility based on position.  

Qualifications

  • BSN required. 
  • Licensed in Massachusetts and New Hampshire (or willing to obtain dual licensure)
  • RN with minimum 1-2 years home care experience. 
  • 1-2 year’s experience in staff education, teaching or training across multi-disciplinary clinical domains (preferred)
