Job Description

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and overseeing database migration and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software;
  • Responsible for physical databases on specific database technologies; design and implement back up, recovery, archiving and conversion strategies;
  • Lead or provide subject matter expertise in production and non production databases for data development;
  • Manage database distribution, configuration, security and access requirements;
  • Design and develop physical databases;
  • Lead or perform testing, reporting, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and restores; and,
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to on going problem identification and resolution and root cause analysis process for database environments

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Strong DB2 on mainframe;
  • AIX experience;
  • 5+ years of experience in this area as a DBA
  • Korn Shell scripting;
  • DB2 LUW
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • DBMS, Data warehousing expertise, Performance tuning and Root cause analysis experience;
  • Previous application and operating systems knowledge;
  • DB2 DBA Certification from IBM Corporation or an accredited institution 10 years hands-on experience in developing, maintaining and optimizing DB2 based applications and databases
