Job Description

Immediate opening for a Network Systems Engineer to support a Government Program Management Office (PMO).

  • Work is located 100% on government site (no telework).
  • Perform Network Engineering services enabling network management for a global system from network design through implementation, configuration, maintenance, and sustainment.
  • Ensure customer requirements align with architecture designs and work closely with service delivery group to implement network upgrades, modernization efforts, equipment refresh support, and new network turn-ups.
  • Perform troubleshooting of complex network issues and implement corrective actions via installation, testing, evaluation, and coordination with other departments.
  • Continuously review existing LANs/WANs for performance, optimization, resilience, and security risks.  Identify problem areas and develop solutions (feasibility/cost studies).
  • Assist with development, review, and preparation of briefing materials, reports, and other project documentation.  Coordinate responses to multiple periodic reports.
  • Provide input to department strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.  Provide a leadership role for the work group in application of network engineering demands
  • Some travel required, mostly local DC Metro area.

Qualifications

REQUIRED Skills/Education/Certifications:

  • Current active TS/SCI clearance (must have current SSBI), reported in DISS.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, computer science, systems engineering, or related field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of IT/Network experience supporting Government customers, of which at least three (3) years as Network Engineer.
  •  Active/valid certifications in both CompTIA Security+ and Cisco CCNA.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ethernet, routers, switches, firewalls, cabling, crypto, QOS, VPNs, COOP disaster recovery, and related physical hardware.
  • Experience in protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network and cybersecurity measures.
  • High proficiency with network management tools such as SolarWinds and GEM X to analyze network characteristics (connect time, transmission speed, packet size, throughput).
  • Experience with Cisco network/firewall devices and the Cisco UCS switching fabric.
  • Excellent communication, time management, organization, and customer service skills (written and oral); able to effectively interact with customers, partners, and associates through a variety of remote support capabilities (ticketing, phone, email, RAS, etc.).

DESIRED Skills/Education/Experience:

  • Familiarity with DOD and U.S. Navy organizations and functional missions.
  • Experience with installing, configuration, and troubleshooting TACLANE encryption devices.
  • At least one other professional certification, such as Network+, MCSA, CCNP, etc.
