Toomey Technologies has an immediate opening for a talented and motivated Developer with strong Software Engineering skills.

Overview

The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing and deploying applications that solve challenging problems related to spatial analytics and the distribution and packaging of spatial datasets for our government customers. The Software Engineer will work to support the development, integration, and deployment of applications in a cloud environment using languages such as Java, Scala, and C++ on commercial platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).  The qualified candidate will work in development teams and use an agile driven software development cycle with continuous integration to design and develop software applications in support of GEOINT Services. Responsibilities

  • Communicate with government customers and stakeholders
  • Design and build full stack application with modern technologies, intuitive user-interfaces and  scalable data processing architectures using open source software
  • Deploy and maintain applications in AWS and other deployment environments as needed.
  • Perform evaluations on applications and improve their accuracies and efficiencies.
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software code, with duties to design and update software databases under contract and direction from the assigned Government Product Manager.
  • Write test scripts, in an agile software development environment, where built in automated test procedures are paramount and continuous integration of software and continuous delivery of software to the Government, is the culture.
  • Recommend improvements to existing software applications as necessary

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • TS/SCI security clearance required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • 5-8 yrs. of related experience in:
  • o Full Stack development to include Java, Web Services, Database and micro-service
  • development
  • o Agile and lean philosophies, serving as scurm or team lead
  • o Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration (CI/CD) techniques, test-driven
  • development, and automated testing practices
  • o Integration and operations of terrain analysis visualization and algorithms
  • o Strong Java or Scala development skills
  • o Experience with one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Java, Javascript, Python
  • o Amazon Web Services, IaaS/PaaS, or other cloud infrastructures
  • o REST APIs, or OGC web standards such as WFS and WMS
  • o Windows & Linux/Unix environments

Desired Skills

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • Use and development with common geospatial tools, data, and operating platforms. These may include, but are not limited to:
  • o Tools - Boundless Spatial suite, Remote View, PostGRES, and/or other geospatial databases,
  • ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Image Server, and File Geodatabases.
  • o Data formats including KML, KMZ, NITF, TIFF, JPEG, GeoPDF, and similar geo-related
  • formats.
  • o Operating Platforms – ESRI, OpenGeo Suite, or similar
  • Certified Scrum Master or Scrum Professional
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
  • Experience with the integration and tailoring of geospatial Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software applications.
  • Experience with the integration of related specialized hardware
  • Large Scale Data Processing (Hadoop, MapReduce, Kafka, Storm)
  • Web Application Development using frameworks such as React, Django, Flask, Node
  • Automated Testing Frameworks (JUnit, RSpec, Cucumber)
  • Databases (SQL, NoSQL)
  • ESRI (ArcGIS Runtime, ArcObjects)
  • • Web Mapping (Leaflet, OpenLayers, Google Maps)
