Supervisory Duties

As the Nurse Manager you will:

  • oversee registered and licensed practical nurses, nursing aides and support staff.
  • collaborate with the Staffing Manager to coordinate work schedules, delegate assignments and tasks.  
  • evaluate employee job performance, as well as work with the Director of Nursing Services to administer corrective action to nursing staff if needed.
  • update and help enforce employee policies and procedures as needed.
  • mentor new nurses and offer ongoing nurse education.
  • set goals and standards and hold regular staff meetings to give directions, updates or discuss areas for improvement

CLINICAL PRACTICE/PATIENT CARE

  • reinforce standards of nursing care of the residents.
  • monitor resident care to ensure it meets the facility's standards in accordance with Federal, State and local laws
  • review resident records to analyze the effectiveness of the care provided.
  • work closely with Physicians, Nurse Practitioner and families to discuss treatment options and address questions or complaints brought forward by residents and/or their families.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with current licensure as a nurse in New York State and current NYS registration in good standing, and/or BS in related field, i.e. Health Care/Business Administration. Record of prior stable employment and favorable references.

  • (2) Years professional nursing experience in a long-term care setting.
  • (2) Years’ experience in nursing administration or a comparable management position.
  • Graduate of accredited Registered Professional Nursing program.
  • Bachelors Degree of Science.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCLS).
  • IV/wound care skills
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
