The ideal candidate will have a high news metabolism and be attuned to the national conversation around politics, the workplace, popular culture, and more. The reporter must also have demonstrated skills to write quick stories and deeply-reported articles that weave interviews, profile material, anecdotes, and exclusive details into compelling narratives. The reporter then must be able to effectively communicate those stories across TV, radio, and social media.

What You Get To Do:

• Research/write multiple items per week.

• Examine copy for accuracy, checking all factual information, quotes, and statistics.

• Interview newsmakers and tastemakers.

• Contribute to breaking news coverage of major events.

• Help produce additional video, photo, or social content as needed.

What You Bring To Us

• 5+ years’ experience at a national news organization

• College degree preferable

• An innate sense of what constitutes news of interest to the Daily Beast audience.

• Speed and excellent news judgment

• An obsessive interest in getting the news out quickly and helping readers understand the most important stories of the day, month, year.

• A voracious news diet and a hunger to work in a fast-paced newsroom.
