Job Description

As a Claims Consultant in our Group Claims team, supporting members of the AustralianSuper fund, you'll play a meaningful role in helping customers navigate some of life's most challenging moments. Managing life insurance claims from commencement through to resolution, you'll deliver expert support, clear communication, and positive outcomes for customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) and Income Protection (IP) claims from end to end, delivering positive customer outcomes.
  • Provide exceptional service through proactive communication, stakeholder engagement, and clear expectation management.
  • Assess claims, determine entitlements, and accurately calculate and process benefit payments.
  • Partner with medical professionals, rehabilitation providers, trustees, and internal specialists to support timely claim decisions.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers and stakeholders, providing expert guidance and empathetic support.
  • Ensure claims are managed in line with policy requirements, regulatory obligations, and best practice.
  • Participate in case discussions and peer reviews to achieve quality outcomes and share knowledge.
  • Contribute ideas and initiatives that enhance processes and improve the customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing life insurance claims, ideally within Group Insurance, with exposure to TPD and/or IP claims; or
  • Experience in Workers Compensation or Return to Work claims management, coupled with an Allied Health background.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine empathy for supporting customers through challenging life events.
  • A solid understanding of injuries, illnesses, recovery pathways, and treatment approaches.
