Our Federal Ministry client is completing a relocation of its primary DataCentre at North Sydney.  This is to be completed by June this year and can be broken down into the following major phases; 

1.     Expansion and Relocation of operations flight deck and user LAN to 168 Walker

2.     Upgrade and logical move of primary services to secondary at North Ryde.

3.     Physical Relocation of North Sydney to the new site. 

 

This position, is to ensure the successful migration and build out of all  core, LAN and networking switching operations to support the migration.

 

Responsibilities:

Position responsibilities include:

1.     Assist with Network IP & X.25 design to meet all facets'of the migration.  

2.     Raising of changes and migration planning.

3.     Work with the user migration to ensure min impacts.

4.     Implementation of core switching modifications and fault tolerant network. 

5.     Test plans and signoff. 

6.     Implementation of layer 3/2 fibre network. 

7.     Assist with the migration of clients to DR via IP strategies. 

 

Measures of Success:

The measures of success for this role are directly related to:

• Successful completion of project deliverables within agreed time frames. 

• Zero unplanned  disruptions of service outages or faults

• Minimise the adverse effect of upgrades and changes on clients

• Accurate and timely reporting

 

Skills Requirements 

1.     Superior knowledge and experience of IP/VLAN  switching, OSPF, BGP, NATing, Security and fibre networks.

2.     Technical writing skills demonstrated by an ability to write technical and operational documentation.

3.     Track record of successful major infrastructure migrations. 

4.     Working knowledge of voice, VOIP and PABX systems. 

5.     Established experience levels, in the set-up, configuration and implementation of network hardware, including WAN Routers, Load Balancers, LAN switches and Core Fibre switches.

6.     Knowledge of network impacts involving typical LAN applications, eg Microsoft operating systems.

7.     Experience in IP design and IP tools, i.e  DNS, DHCP. 

8.     Working experience in design and implementation and security systems including firewalls, IPSec, and access lists. 

9.     Experience in the operation of network sniffers, fault diagnosis and resolution.

 

Skills - Objective Level:
