Job Description
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Ability to work as part of a team to plan, design, build, deploy and maintain SQL Server databases. Provide technical and operational support to other departments as needed to support business objectives. Additionally:
Provide 24x7 on call support as part of a team rotation
Provide application, database and system troubleshooting
Provide application, database and system performance tuning
Provide technical support for database related projects
Install and upgrade of SQL Server and associated software including third party tools
Provide basic database administration activities such as backup, recovery, monitoring and management
Develop documentation for other DBAs, developers and end-users
Build and maintain SQL Server Maintenance Plans and optimization jobs
Manage SQL Server jobs and schedules
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good troubleshooting skills
One plus years of experience installing, configuring and managing SQL Server databases.
In-depth knowledge of Windows operating system.
Understanding of relational database design
SQL Server Cluster
SQL Server Replication
SQL 2008
SQL 2012
SQL utilities such as BCP, DTS and SSIS
T-SQL and knowledge of stored procedures, UDFs and triggers
Monitoring and tuning tools such as Windows Performance Monitor, Profiler and Tuning Advisor
Shell scripting (Powershell, Windows batch files)
Experience with 3rd party monitoring tools like Confio Ignite.
Data and Process Modeling
Some Oracle administration experience
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
