Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Germplasm Development Team is seeking a Product Placement Scientist. This role will be responsible for late-stage corn pipeline collaboration with the Seeds Development team of early-stage scientists, trialing managers, and research associates in conducting cutting-edge research and developing strategies to ensure the optimal placement of our corn hybrids. Your expertise will directly contribute to the sustainable success of our corn product line and support our mission to revolutionize agricultural productivity.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead representative for the 110 & 115RM materials within a team of corn product placement scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Design and oversee comprehensive field research programs within assigned RMs to evaluate and optimize the performance of corn hybrids across varied environments.
  • Implement advanced predictive models and decision-making tools for precise product placement and performance forecasting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as breeding, biotechnology, marketing, and sales, to integrate scientific findings into business strategies.
  • Drive the translation of complex research data into actionable insights and clear product narratives for stakeholders and customers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key industry partners, research institutions, and growers to stay at the forefront of agronomic practices and market trends.
  • Lead the development and refinement of 110 & 115RM late-stage protocols and best practices for field trial design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Identify tendencies of late-stage pipeline materials (inbreds & hybrids) that support advancement decisions and improve portfolio deliverables.
  • Provide additional support through data collection and portfolio placement recommendations as a representative of the Corn Product Placement Team.
  • Participate within the broader Seeds Development Team through participation in, or leadership of, innovative improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and data integrity standards in research activities.
  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, symposia, and industry events, showcasing our leadership in corn product placement.

Qualifications

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must reside in and be permanently authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. This comprises, but is not limited to, OPT, CPT, and H-1B visa holders.

  • Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Science, Crop Science, or a related field with a strong emphasis on quantitative genetics, or
  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural research, with a proven track record in product development and placement.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience contributing to high-performing scientific teams and working cross-functionally.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, experimental design, and data management software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
  • Interest in and ability to lead projects, such as process improvements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to varied audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to align scientific research with commercial objectives.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required.

Additional Information

Salary for this position ranges from $104,800 -  $157,200 annually.
