Job Description

What will you be doing?

S&W is launching a new Economic Advisory team, delivering high-quality advisory and expert services to corporates, regulators, government bodies and legal advisers. We’re looking for a Senior Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping, leading, and sustaining an inclusive, intellectually rigorous, and responsive working culture.

The role provides exposure to a broad range of clients, sectors, and types of work, and will particularly suit someone who enjoys varied projects and the collaborative, dynamic nature of working within a growing team.

As Senior Manager, your responsibilities will include among others

Client service

  • Establishing and communicating work scopes
  • Planning and preparation of budgets
  • Performing/supervising work

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing/reviewing reports
  • Responsibility for client meetings

Growing the Business

  • Networking and maintaining industry contacts
  • Maintenance of team credentials database
  • Assistance in preparing for work pitches
  • Cross-selling and liaison with other departments
  • Working alongside colleagues from other departments and maintaining cross-divisional contacts

Developing Self and Others

  • Coach, guide, and develop junior team members
  • Provide constructive feedback and aid in the development and appraisal of team member

Financial Management

  • Manage projects to ensure margin targets are achieved, good recovery, and timely billing and payment

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have

  • Proven experience in economic advisory, competition economics, regulatory economics, public policy economics or applied microeconomics, gained within a leading professional services firm, specialist economics consultancy, regulator, government body, or regulated industry
  • Technical expertise in one or more core economic consulting disciplines, including:
  1. Competition economics (e.g. mergers, market investigations, antitrust conduct, digital and platform
    markets)
  2. Regulatory economics (e.g. price controls, market design, regulatory frameworks, incentives)
  3. Economic valuation and financial economics
  4. Econometrics, quantitative modelling and data-driven analysis
  • Strong track record delivering workstreams on complex projects, with accountability for quality and timelines
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insights and client-ready outputs.
  • Experience working directly with clients, presenting analysis and providing insights
  • Confident interpreting and challenging data and models
  • Strong written and verbal communication for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and coordinating across teams
  • Collaborative, organised and quality-driven approach
  • Exposure to proposals, bids and identifying new opportunities
  • Commercially aware with strong stakeholder management skills

Professional Qualifications and Education

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Econometrics or a closely related quantitative discipline
  • A postgraduate qualification (Masters or PhD) in economics or a related field is desirable
