Job Description

The Community Engagement Committee shall be responsible for leveraging SSMU’s links with local community organizations to plan event series and connect McGill students when possible.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend the meetings of the Community Engagement Committee

  2. Plan events that promote student involvement in communities in the wider Montreal area, and improve relations between McGill students and permanent residents in the Milton-Parc neighbourhood;

  3. Work with organizations such as Campus Life & Engagement, Student Services, Branches, and student Community Engagement initiatives in order to further connect McGill students to local community organizations;

  4. Review and make recommendations to the Community Engagement Committee’s terms of reference at the end of the year.

Qualifications

  1. Must be a Member of the Society;

  2. Knowledge of Montreal community organizations and an interest in social justice; 

  3. Functional bilingualism a strong asset;

  4. Event planning experience an asset;

  5. Experience in organizing an asset;

  6. Experience with several clubs, events and projects on campus.
