Job Description

To lead, manage and deliver the Debt Financing Solutions (DFS) capability across multiple portfolios and / or the most complex clients and internal relationships, including the effective end-to-end design and implementation of client centric Debt Solutions that deliver exceptional client experience in line with the origination promise, achieving revenue targets, market share growth and enhancing the CIB brand as the Go-To Lending Bank.

  • Originate, develop, lead and structure solutions that align with the Debt Solutions business global strategy by identifying and driving the strategic objectives for the DFS portfolio, to optimise client and / or shareholder returns, grow IB revenue and protect / grow the Debt Solutions market share.
  • Proactively develop, maintain and expand a network of internal stakeholders to identify and enable cross sell opportunities, effectively deliver end-to-end Debt Solutions and pursue new pipeline.
  • Proactively develop, maintain and expand a network of relevant external stakeholders to stay abreast of developments that contribute and influence what good looks like for Debt Solutions within the market to drive cross sell opportunities and enhance the brand reputation.
  • Stay abreast of developments and trends in the market, industry, regulatory and client base to translate into a business strategy for CIB and support existing deals, new opportunity identification, enhanced thought leadership and influence market developments.
  • Own and oversee pitchbook planning and where required approve final proposals, pitchbooks and other origination content to refine recommendations and provide expert opinions for use in client engagements.
  • Lead client engagements and act as the trusted debt solutions advisor and partner by providing expert opinion, insights, advice and best in class solutions to meet the clients' needs and successfully achieve CIB outcomes.
  • Oversee portfolio origination activities by providing direction, monitoring the achievement of performance targets and re-evaluate the origination strategy in line with that of the client ensuring solutions meets the clients' needs.
  • Oversee the conceptual design of financial models, providing value-add and in-depth insight into assumptions and augmenting the design to ensure validity and reliability. Review and approve all debt solutions, including associated documentation and deliverables to ensure base case models and term sheets are aligned to the client need and CIB commercial, risk and regulatory frameworks.
  • Drive focus on Standard Bank franchise enhancing opportunities (balancing mandate viability, deal feasibility and the probability of deal closure) to select and secure deals that result in IB revenue growth.

Qualifications

  • First Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification and/or relevant professional certification (e.g. CFA, CA, ACCA, CPA) preferred.
  • More than 10 years' experience originating and executing complex debt financing transactions within Corporate and Investment Banking.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth, revenue generation and market share expansion.
  • Strong experience managing senior client, investor and stakeholder relationships.
  • At least 5-10 years' experience leading high-performing teams and developing talent within a financial services environment.
  • Extensive experience in risk management, governance and regulatory compliance within a complex banking environment.
