Job Description
The Parts Counter is responsible for providing prompt, accurate, and professional parts support to dealership service technicians and retail/wholesale customers. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient service operations, maintaining inventory accuracy, and delivering a positive customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist service technicians and customers in identifying, selecting, and purchasing automotive parts and accessories
- Accurately interpret parts diagrams, manuals, and electronic catalogs
- Process parts orders, returns, and invoices in the dealership management system (DMS)
- Maintain proper inventory levels through stocking, counting, and replenishment activities
- Receive, verify, and shelve incoming parts shipments
- Communicate availability, pricing, and delivery timelines clearly and professionally
- Keep the parts counter and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate with Service Advisors, Technicians, and the Parts Manager to ensure timely job completion
- Handle warranty parts and core returns in accordance with manufacturer and dealership guidelines
- Follow all dealership policies, procedures, and customer service standards
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an automotive dealership parts department or related industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, components, and terminology.
- Ability to use electronic parts catalogs and dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and perform well in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills.
Required:
- All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license
Additional Information
(The Parts Counter Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Compensation. The position may also pay commission compensation which is based on the value or amount of closed sales achieved from $0.00 (if no sales are made) without any upper limit other than sales performance. The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit.)
