Job Description

Your Mission

As Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering and industrialization strategy for the Somfy Felgueiras site. You will ensure the reliability of equipment, the optimization of manufacturing processes, and the successful launch of new products and lines. You will drive continuous improvement, guarantee compliance with safety and quality standards, and develop a high‑performing technical team.

 

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Maintenance

  • Oversee maintenance planning, execution, and continuous optimization.
  • Ensure the technical availability and reliability of all machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Guarantee efficient problem‑solving to support production continuity.
  • Implement and monitor TPM and CMMS practices.
  • Optimize spare parts inventory and maintenance-related costs.
  • Define, monitor, and report maintenance and engineering KPIs.

Industrialization & Technical Excellence

  • Lead the industrialization of new products, equipment, and production lines.
  • Collaborate with Group Industrial Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Production teams.
  • Promote and implement technical innovations and process optimization.
  • Ensure full compliance with industrialization standards and company guidelines.
  • Drive Lean methodologies: SMED, TPM, 5S.
  • Develop and lead annual continuous improvement roadmaps (SPS).
  • Foster a strong Lean and problem‑solving culture.

Systems & Data Governance

  • Act as key user for CMMS and MES systems, ensuring robust usage and continuous improvement.
  • Manage technical master data creation, updates, and governance.
  • Guarantee accuracy and timeliness of all industrialization, engineering, and maintenance reporting.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Define objectives and monitor team performance and development.
  • Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, and high engagement.
  • Identify competency gaps and implement training and development plans.
  • Optimize team structure and ensure efficient resource allocation.

Budget & Compliance Management

  • Contribute to annual budget planning and monitor budget execution.
  • Ensure compliance with machine certifications, product approvals, and applicable legislation.
  • Lead and support key transformation projects at local and global level.
  • Manage project scope, risks, timelines, and stakeholder communication.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance processes and technical documentation standards.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a managerial role within an international manufacturing company (Ideally with experience in the automotive industry).
  • Technical degree in mechanics, electricity, automation, or similar.
  • Proven experience in preventive maintenance leadership.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean tools (SMED, TPM, 5S).
  • Strong problem-solving, cost planning, and optimization skills.
  • Excellent analytical and communication abilities.
  • Calm, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Intermediate English (minimum B1 level).
  • Passion for continuous improvement.
