Job Description

The Application Development Manager will be responsible for leading the technical design and development of new and existing web-based and mobile solutions in a high growth environment. As a member of the IT leadership team, this role reports directly to Chief Information Officer and works with the management at all levels of the organization and information technology professionals to provide IT Services.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Hiring and leading a new development team in alignment with the expanding solution architecture planned
  • Leveraging experience using React, Redux, PHP, .Net, HTML, MySQL, as well as other technologies, to play a critical role in designing, enhancing and implementing effective and scalable custom solutions
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, oversight of daily activities and performance appraisals of his/her employees
  • Provides leadership guidance and supervision of direct reports, train, develop and motivate staff via ongoing feedback
  • Directs and oversees the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications/operating systems
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures that produce high quality software products and services and maintain compliance with change and release management guidelines
  • Works closely with business and IT partners on establishing solution roadmaps
  • Manages development operations (DevOps) working closely with project managers, developers (internal and external), QA and IT operations to streamline the delivery of software releases into production while mitigating customer impact
  • Analyzes business and technical requirements, with particular regard to their impact on existing systems and environments, to produce accurate estimates, and thorough business and system designs
  • Provides Tier 3 support and work with other application services staff to assist users in performing daily functions
  • Maintains system health checks, conduct regular license audits, and ensures license compliance
  • Provides technical expertise during new product reviews, tests and pilots

Qualifications

Successful Application Development Managers will have 8+ years of application development experience, along with 5+ years of people management experience in software development including offshore resources.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Success in leveraging traditional best practices such as ITSM, DevOps, Lean and other methods used to optimize agility
  • Extensive technical experience with custom application development in the following capacities: Gap analysis, solution design, and development, Integrating with other applications using web services and other technologies, Implementing solutions end-to-end, including data conversion and postproduction support and troubleshooting
  • Experience working on Linux Apache MariaDB
  • Experience with development tools such as React, React Native, TypeScript, Flow, Redux, ES6 JavaScript, JavaScript/Webpack, Babel, NPM, Yarn, LAMP, and modern PHP Frameworks (Laravel), Docker and Bash
  • Experience developing using HTML, PHP, CSS, .Net, SCSS, REST APIs, HTML, and SQL, MySQL/Linux
  • Experience writing robust, maintainable code, managing technical debt, and making use of quality tools and testing frameworks
  • Experience with Agile Project methodology and familiarity with Jira software
  • Familiarity with Node.js, React Native, LAMP, modern PHP Frameworks (Laravel), Docker, and Bash scripting a plus
  • Familiarity with ETL tools, such as Informatica, Dell Boomi, MuleSoft a plus
