In operation since 1998, we provide a variety of services to the Athabasca Oil Sands Region and have a presence on many of the major Oil Sands Mine Sites. Job Description

Purpose / Role

To undertake the detailed management and liaison with individual trade foremen and supervisors to ensure that the design is complied with and that installation is in accordance with required specification and standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of Health and Safety, including ensuring the proper use of plant and equipment, and the timing and co-operation of the various teams of all trades.
  • Through weekly progress meetings with the individual trade foremen and supervisors, agree and review the short term programmes of work contained in the method statements, so that areas of actual and/or potential risk, Bouchier’s stated commitment to HSE, ways to work ‘Smarter, Better, Faster’ are all promptly and efficiently highlighted and resolved, whether via the group themselves, or through the site management team.
  • Ensure that agreed quality control procedures are correctly and fully understood and implemented.
  • Manage all field construction on project site.
  • Mentors, coaches, and directs the daily work of foremen/field personnel
  • Compiles and reports forecasts for milestones, cost, quantities, and consumption
  • Ensures all safety regulations, quality plans, and construction schedules are being adhered to and work is done safely and efficiently
  • Maintains compliance with current policies and procedures of various disciplines
  • Reviews work orders, invoices, packing slips, and LEMs to ensure accuracy and conformance to the contractual commitments of the project
  • Monitors project material and labour costs and ensure accurate quality / quantity reporting is completed
  • Develops and execute the project strategy that meets the project's required performance, schedule and profitability targets
  • Works with the project manager, trades contractors, inspectors, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to identify, develop, implement and support cost-effective project delivery

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in related field
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Short term work planning techniques
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Valid CSTS and OSSA (Oil Sands Safety Association) orientation would be an asset
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • Strong computer skills, to include MS Office Suite and scheduling software
  • Ability to identify issues and generate solutions
  • Ability to make sound decisions using standard procedures
  • Applicants must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English
