Bouchier is comprised primarily of Bouchier Contracting Ltd. and Bouchier Site Services Ltd., with its Head Office based in Fort McKay, Alberta and the Administrative Hub based in Fort McMurray. We are an Aboriginal owned and operated company that currently employs a workforce of more than 800 individuals.

In operation since 1998, we provide a variety of services to the Athabasca Oil Sands Region and have a presence on many of the major Oil Sands Mine Sites. Job Description

Position Summary:

The Bid Manger will establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with customers, partners and the bid team to ensure high quality, competitive submissions are delivered to the customer.

The primary responsibility of the Bid Manager is to lead and own the end to end process for the creation and management of proposals, prequalification’s, expressions of interest and statements of capability documents from brief to submission ensuring optimised presentation of key selling points.

Working in conjunction with experienced Senior Managers they will lead every stage of document development from defining the brief, creating the solution and deciding the process of responsibility and production, organisation of the bid team and personal involvement in the final collation and delivery arrangements.

The Bid Manager role is a fulltime position and will be based from The Bouchier Group’s office in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

 

Purpose / Role:

  • Champion and deliver a winning bid through effective leadership, inspiration and support of the bid team.
  • In conjunction with Executive Management agree bid strategies for proposals including level of support required from the wider organization and departments through bid strategy meetings.
  • Ensure appropriate input from all internal and partner stakeholders to achieve a tender submission and contract award that meets the requirements of the ITT and the Bouchier sanctioned authority.
  • Manage and chair bi-weekly pipeline meetings owing the production and delivery of pipeline documents reviewed at bi-weekly meetings.
  • Review all proposal requests (RFP, RFQ, EOI, SOC, etc.) and identify the key elements of the proposal in accordance with company policies & procedures and commercial best practice. Develop the proposal structure and contents to address these requirements and take an active role in ensuring adherence to these requirements.
  • Lead, coordinate and produce all required deliverables on tenders in conjunction with Operations Directors.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding the execution efficiency and difficulties faced by current company operations and projects for use in future tenders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Bouchier Business Plan, alongside wider market information to enable opportunities for adjacent services to be included in tenders for customers.
  • Own and deliver documents in the early part of the bid process, e.g. expressions of interest and pre-qualifications.
  • Manage own workload to ensure all proposal production materials are completed by specified deadlines.
  • Liaise with the Executive Director, Corporate Services to utilize and update standard, formats text and graphics.
  • Work with the Estimating and Commercial Teams to ensure capture of text which would be useful on a repeat basis.
  • Plan document ownership, organize and chair team reviews and conference calls as required to meet submission critical path timelines and milestones. Chase and co-ordinate information.
  • Draft and review text and graphics, and edit to maximize quality and clarity of key selling messages.
  • Format documents where required.
  • Management of publishing and printing for the purposes of early production of submission material.
  • Promote a continuous feedback improvement focus, highlighting key documents and or text.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Applied Skills: 

  • Diploma or University Degree in Marketing / Communications / Business / Commercial / Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8 years of experience in a related field with an emphasis on operational or commercial delivery, marketing & proposal development. Civil construction or FM industry background.
  • Proven skill / experience in some form of document management / ownership, ideally proposals management.
  • Experience working with both internal and external client groups.
  • Strong project coordination / management skills.
  • Strong business and technical writing / editorial skills required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the following software packages: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Explorer, Microsoft Outlook).
  • Preferred to have at least a working knowledge of Visio, (Auto Cad – Asset) and other drawing/graphic software including publishing software such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external sources, both written and oral.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure and organize multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility.
