Company Description

Bouchier is comprised primarily of Bouchier Contracting Ltd. and Bouchier Site Services Ltd., with its Head Office based in Fort McKay, Alberta and the Administrative Hub based in Fort McMurray. We are an Aboriginal owned and operated company that currently employs a workforce of more than 800 individuals.

In operation since 1998, we provide a variety of services to the Athabasca Oil Sands Region and have a presence on many of the major Oil Sands Mine Sites. Bouchier is one of the leading First Nations companies within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo that provides construction, maintenance, and general site services.

Job Description

Overall Accountabilities

  • Ensure hazard assessments are conducted prior to set up of the new job site, to identify, assess and control existing hazards or potential hazards to people, property or the environment.
  • Coach and mentor staff on the project to safe work practices, quality workmanship, productivity and schedule
  • Ensure all purchase, human resource, and work winning decisions are made in line with established Bouchier Group Delegation of Authority
  • Work with Site management/ planner in requisitioning required items.
  • Manage overall daily operations in line with Bouchier Group and Client policies and procedures.
  • Attend daily planning meetings
  • Ensure Requisitions/scopes are submitted correctly in a timely manner.
  • Foster a positive working atmosphere consistent with Bouchier Group culture.

Accounting & Controls

  • Provide management, support and input into bid submissions as required.
  • Work with the supervision, client and other stakeholders to identify, develop, implement and support cost-effective project delivery.
  • Ensure no work is commenced prior to having all proper paperwork and written client authorizations.

People Management

  • Build a high level of trust and confidence with all direct reports.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship and support to all direct reports.
  • Ensure meaningful and relevant KPIs are in place for all direct reports.
  • Identify and manage in consultation with Site Manager any employee performance issues.
  • Maintain compliance with current policies and procedures. 

Safety & Quality

  • Foster and maintain a safety atmosphere consistent with Bouchier Group safety culture.
  • Complete daily worksite inspection to ensure all quality policies and procedures are being adhered to. 

Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Valid DL - Class 5
  • Instructing:  teaching/coaching others how to perform their work;
  • Judgment and decision-making:  considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Problem sensitivity:  the ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. This does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing when there is one.
  • Physical capabilities:  Ability to drive to locations, observe operations, listen and actively participate in communicating effectively with employees, customers, and management.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of conditions including, but not limited to:  field office, field earth-moving, road maintenance, and trucking environments.
