Bouchier is comprised primarily of Bouchier Contracting Ltd. and Bouchier Site Services Ltd., with its Head Office based in Fort McKay, Alberta and the Administrative Hub based in Fort McMurray. We are an Aboriginal owned and operated company that currently employs a workforce of more than 800 individuals.

In operation since 1998, we provide a variety of services to the Athabasca Oil Sands Region and have a presence on many of the major Oil Sands Mine Sites. Bouchier is one of the leading First Nations companies within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo that provides construction, maintenance, and general site services.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities for engineered design construction and extractive workers, such as heavy equipment operators, and truck drivers.
  •  Maintain physical asset security and condition.
  • Cost/expense control of the business, and monitoring of such, through verbal and written reports to be shared with the Site Supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Assign work to employees, based on job requirements, special job site conditions, and available equipment, material, and worker qualifications.
  • Conduct and/or attend worker line-up and safety meetings.
  • Oversee and approve Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and work progress to verify conformance to safety standards, including sensors and personal work.
  • Conduct on-going mentoring for reporting personnel.
  • Execute work with upmost safety and efficiency.
  • Evaluate operators on equipment use as required.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for employees.
  • Analyze organizational operating and safety practices and procedures.
  • Develop safe work assignment plans as necessary.
  • Estimate equipment, materials, and labour requirements.
  • Inspect project operations and site to determine specification compliance.
  • Maintain production and work records.
  • Monitor worker performance.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Post Secondary Education in Business Administration, Contract Administration or other related field.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered. Minimum 5 years in mining construction industry.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Valid CSTS and OSSA (OSSA Regional Orientation) and/or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation) would be an asset.
  • Safety Leadership, responsible and accountable for a safe workplace.
  • Acting as the Employers' representative on the job, and the leader of the crew they have been assigned.
  • Following project plans and schedules and supervising the crews daily and weekly activities.
  • Ensuring the work done meets industry standards for quality and crew productivity
  • Preparation of reports and documentation required by the employer.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Navision is a definite asset
  • Above average organizational skills.
