Bouchier is comprised primarily of Bouchier Contracting Ltd. and Bouchier Site Services Ltd., with its Head Office based in Fort McKay, Alberta and the Administrative Hub based in Fort McMurray. We are an Aboriginal owned and operated company that currently employs a workforce of more than 800 individuals.

In operation since 1998, we provide a variety of services to the Athabasca Oil Sands Region and have a presence on many of the major Oil Sands Mine Sites. Bouchier is one of the leading First Nations companies within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo that provides construction, maintenance, and general site services.

Job Description

This is an active and visible role requiring excellent customer relationships with senior client team members, sound commercial / supplier management skills as well as entrepreneurial ability. The Operations Director will be expected to positively contribute to the strategic direction, performance, growth and profitability of the business with their customer.

Accountable for the P & L, operational management and delivery of all services delivered within a large and significant area of responsibility. This includes overseeing and managing customer interfaces; ensuring a high profile and positive image for the Bouchier business.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To promote and drive excellence across all aspects of Health and Safety performance ensuring consistent performance against all leading and lagging indicators and generating a true health & safety culture
  • To lead the Operational Team in the consistent delivery of operational solutions across a customer’s portfolio.
  • Drive implementation of best / lean practices across contracts by establishing performance metrics that promote excellence and best practices.
  • Interrogate performance metrics for existing contracts, in conjunction with the Site Managers to evaluate existing profitability, risk and establish whether we are fulfilling our contractual obligations
  • Work with bid teams to support the operational strategy of our bids
  • Identify organic growth opportunities within / adjacent to existing contracts
  • Act as a role model for people management processes ensuring they are followed to clarify objectives, actively manage performance and develop skills
  • To manage excellent relationships with clients, our suppliers and other partners.
  • To lead, recruit, develop and retain staff to deliver services in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • To set objectives for direct reports and renew quarterly. Ensure same approach and mechanisms for all staff within area of responsibility.
  • To ensure direct reports understand business strategy and customer requirements, operational and financial performance of the Bouchier business.
  • Lead the development of business wide initiatives including contract renewal strategy, contract deliverables schedule and risk & opportunity matrices.
  • To lead excellent communications with and motivation for all staff.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Engineering; an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Oil and Gas Field Services.
  • Minimum 5 years Management Experience in the oil sands industry
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Experience in contractor coordination in a heavy construction environment.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills verbal and written.
  • Ability to produce timely and high-quality documentation.
  • Proven teamwork environment skills.
  • Applicants must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English
