Bouchier is comprised primarily of Bouchier Contracting Ltd. and Bouchier Site Services Ltd., with its Head Office based in Fort McKay, Alberta and the Administrative Hub based in Fort McMurray. We are an Aboriginal owned and operated company that currently employs a workforce of more than 800 individuals.

In operation since 1998, we provide a variety of services to the Athabasca Oil Sands Region and have a presence on many of the major Oil Sands Mine Sites. Bouchier is one of the leading First Nations companies within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo that provides construction, maintenance, and general site services.

Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall Operation of Bouchier Contracting Ltd.  ensuring that all employees meet or exceed established guidelines set for standard performance. You will as well be responsible for the delivery and execution of obligations outlined in the contract. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a representative for both the company and its owners in the community
  • Maintain a competent, trained and properly staffed team in the areas of HSE, Contracts, Estimating and the Superintendent
  • Provide ongoing support and expertise to all reporting staff and assist key people in establishing goals, objectives, policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and direction to all key people reporting directly to this position, as well as to their employees
  • Assist with corporate strategic planning and budgeting, including cost savings
  • Ensure continued financial growth of the company
  • Ensure the company performs according to established quality control standards
  • Ensure the maintenance of a superior working environment and provide additional safeguards for the safety of all employees and customers
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the company in conjunction with the Director of Operations
  • Meet regularly with corporate leadership to review current policies and procedures to ensure Bouchier is compliant
  • Ensure a continual customer focus by maintaining positive client relationships and ensuring that client's requirements are met
  • Ensure compliance with the delivery, planning, scheduling and execution of the obligations outlined in the contract.
  • Ensure that effective working relationships are established within the organized structure of the company by providing the necessary checks and balances that will identify and correct discrepancies in operations or communications
  • Ensure continual open communication and strong working relationships are maintained with clients
  • Compile and present monthly reports as requested by the Director of Operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Engineering; an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered; or a Minimum of 10 years experience in Oil and Gas Field Services
  • Minimum 5 years Management Experience in the oil sands industry
  • Class 5 Driver's License minimum
  • Experience in contractor coordination in a heavy construction environment
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills verbal and written
  • Ability to produce timely and high quality documentation
  • Proven teamwork environment skills
  • Proven estimating and Civil Engineering/Construction experience will be an asset
