Job Description

Our customers are looking to transform their talent operations and processes to meet their evolving business priorities. As the Head of Reliability (DevOps), you will lead the DevOps team and will be responsible for driving DevOps culture, advancing automation, improving lean practices, measuring the platform’s key indicators, and sharing the knowledge (CALMS). You will work with business and engineering leaders to implement a system capable of meeting the goals of the business. This role requires both strong technical and leadership skills.

What you’ll do: 

  • Provide technical vision and leadership for the DevOps team

  • Provide people management and development for the DevOps team

  • Refine and drive DevOps culture for the whole organization

  • Collaborate with product engineering and architecture teams to pursue highly available and reliable systems, ensuring optimal and consistent performance and platform uptime.

  • Design and own strong monitoring and alerting systems that predicts, detects, informs about potential issues and their root causes in effective manner

  • Ensure platform cyber-security standards and compliance

  • Contribute and run Disaster Recovery procedures and exercises with related documentation

  • Contribute to the automation roadmap (i.e. improvements to continuous integration and delivery) and scale-out our infrastructure to support the needs of a growing customer base

  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors in order to provide the best possible uptime of our platform

  • Manage and optimize our cloud budget

  • Evangelize other team members, direct reports, and peers to win as one

  • Cooperate with across our global teams, primarily in Berlin and San Francisco, in different cycles of product development

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience building and running  high volume consumer-facing applications

  • Experience in managing and developing a team of DevOps engineers

  • Demonstrable experience dealing with high volume data/high load Linux environments

  • Experience in running DevOps culture organisations

  • Experience managing highly responsive data infrastructure (Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, redis, memcached, Elastic, etc.)

  • Experience managing redundant systems (IP/DNS, Geolocation, Active/Disaster Recovery)

  • Good understanding of network and systems security

  • Good application cyber-security understanding is a plus

  • Good understanding of distributed systems architecture is a plus

  • Good understanding of DevOps culture and best practices

  • Good understanding of the time/place for cloud-based solutions in a HA environment (AWS, GCP)

  • Experience in ISO 27001 and SOC2 compliant organization is a plus

  • Excellent communicator, verbal and written

  • Experience contributing to the professional community as a speaker, author or online contributor is ideal
