Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our AI team that builds innovative, data-driven recruiting services. You’ll solve complex data science problems like predicting how well a candidate will fit a job. Working closely with dedicated software engineers, you’ll create classifiers and machine learning models to clean up and categorize raw data. It will be your responsibility to constantly analyse and experiment with prediction quality and find new ways to make sense of data to better support recruiting processes.
We partner and collaborate with R&D leaders, product managers, engineers, and business leaders to design and develop data-driven solutions that have the power to significantly change the way people find career opportunities, and how companies hire best talent.

Responsibilities:
Lead data initiatives and foster a data culture, encourage and advocate for a team-wide data-first mindset by connecting data projects to business goals, teams, and stakeholders
Help develop product features that communicate actionable data insights to recruiters and candidates (Data Storytelling)
Conduct data investigations and exploratory data analysis for innovative products
Partner with R&D and Product Management, ensure SmartRecruiters stays ahead of the latest advances in Data Science (ML/NLP)
Define data formats in ElasticSearch indexes and write performant queries
Synthesize complex and diverse datasets, e.g. resumes, job description, user behaviour, industry data, etc, to build and improve product features
Support in planning data projects by providing technical guidance and facilitating smooth releases
Continuous improvement of existing systems by actively monitoring models in production
Qualifications
Master’s/PhD degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field
Practical experience with relevant topics such as Data mining, Text/Natural Language Processing, Data Modelling, Exploratory Data analysis and Statistical Inference
Good proficiency in Python, including go-to libraries within Python tool stack (Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Tensorflow)
Habit of writing clean, readable, well-organized, and well-tested code
Experience with ElasticSearch indexing and querying
Knowledge of statistical and machine learning approaches to NLP
Experience with Recommender Systems
Desire to work in a high-paced, agile development environment
Excellent communication skills in English
Ideally, experience with graph databases and the semantic web
Ideally, experience with Apache Spark and AWS EMR
