Job Description
The Onsite Laboratory Project Manager is responsible for the review, assessment and creation of financial models and proposals for new and existing onsite laboratories, including consulting with the clients, SGS regional and country staff with regard to requirements, costs, schedules, etc. This position is also responsible for working with the operating affiliates to implement all planning, scheduling and co-ordination required to execute and control new onsite laboratory builds and startups.
- Onsite Laboratory Proposal Process
- • Use the collated information collected from the regional teams to model each onsite opportunity
- • Work with Team and Regional Management to obtain technical and operational sign-off of the developed model • Prepare (or assist in the preparation of) technical proposals and / or tender submissions for the onsite laboratory opportunities
- • Communicate with clients as needed and as appropriate to develop new onsite laboratory opportunities, confirm information for RFP’s and to negotiate with the client to win the opportunity for SGS Onsite Laboratory Project Process
- • Work with the SGS local operating teams to schedule and track new onsite laboratory designs, builds and existing onsite laboratory renovations and expansion projects.
- • Confirm and monitor laboratory equipment purchasing to ensure that it is complete, to the global standard and scheduled to arrive at the appropriate time in the project build.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications:
- • University degree in a Science or Engineering related program with a strong preference in a Geosciences profession (Geology, Mines, Mineralogy, Environmental Mineralogy, Soil Science etc.).
- • Select technical experience in a geosciences-related profession with some aspects of business management/personnel management.
- • Strong working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry.
- • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- • Works well under pressure.
- • Global team involvement will mean that extended and/or irregular hours will be required.
- • Ability to work well with others & independently, without supervision.
- • Ability to manage a team
- • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, fluid and highly professional environment.
- • Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition (English).
- • Proficiency in other languages besides English (French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic etc.) is valuable.
