Job Description
To support and maintain technically sound designs, encompassing both hardware and software, in support of effective engineering project execution.
- Assist in the development of discipline strategies during project setup to ensure alignment with deliverables.
- Provide technical support and problem-solving expertise on issues that arise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Apply knowledge from current and previous projects to promote standardization and reuse of proven engineering solutions.
- Review piping design drawings and key discipline documentation.
- Support the development of piping strategies and design criteria to meet client-specific requirements.
- Assist in creating 3D plant models, ensuring proper routing, equipment placement, and clash-free integration with other disciplines.
- Utilize industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, PDMS, E3D, or SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) to produce detailed piping designs and models.
- Contribute to status reporting and post-project feedback activities.
- Capture and document post-project feedback and lessons learned to support continuous improvement and future project success.
DESIGN
- Assist in generating scope of work specifications for piping packages.
- Assist in compiling technical enquiry packages and support tender evaluations.
- Assist in contributing to cost estimation and man-hour tracking for piping deliverables.
- Assist in producing piping designs in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications using Plant 3D.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- Multiple discipline drawing office practice certificate or equivalent
- Familiar with Micro station V8, Plant 3D
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years proven experience with projects in an EPCM / EPCM/Construction/Engineering environment, hardware and software background will be advantageous
- Design Series and AMEC Minproc Drafting
- Minimum of 2-3 years piping design
- Draughting experience of which at least 2 years are in the mining and mineral processing area.
- Some knowledge of process flow diagrams, P&ID’S, fabrication, construction and operations.
- Good understanding of mechanical / piping technology. Understanding of other discipline requirements.
- Checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, initiative.
- Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas.
- Exposure to piping stress analysis tools
- Experience in multidisciplinary environments
- Understanding of fabrication and construction practices
