Job Description
The Food Safety and Regulatory Project Manager conducts research, analyzes data, and provides expert technical information to internal and external stakeholders regarding food safety, laboratory testing and regulatory compliance. This position interfaces with multiple groups to provide necessary technical information in support of all aspects of the business.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Interface with multiple groups (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Special Projects, Client Service, and Clients) to provide necessary technical information
- Provide analysis and generate documentation on a wide array of food safety topics (e.g., regulatory compliance, risk assessments, ingredient safety) to support clients and internal departments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food safety laws (local/national) and assist clients in ensuring compliance with global, national and local food safety requirements.
- Support the review of food labels and Nutrition Facts Panels to ensure compliance with applicable global, federal, and local regulatory requirements.
- Track and analyze emerging regulations and legislation across food, nutrition, nutraceuticals, and pet food sectors, for proactively advising stakeholders on compliance implications and supporting food safety and testing decisions for clients.
- Preparation of detailed technical reports based on food science literature and food regulations, and the production of marketing literature (e.g. newsletters, blogs, brochures, white papers)
- Delivery of technical training to internal staff and clients, including presentations of emerging food regulations and demos of food compliance software.
- Prepares detailed reports, white papers, summaries, newsletters, marketing material, and presentations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
JOB COMPLEXITY
- Manages multi‑workstream, cross‑functional projects (Regulatory, QA, Lab Ops, Commercial) with interdependencies across sites and client programs. Project Manager, Food Safety and Regulatory
- Balances regulatory rigor (FDA/USDA/FSMA, GFSI schemes, ISO/IEC 17025) with operational throughout and client timelines

- Impacts the company’s ability to legally operate or serve certain markets or clients
- Directly affects the safety and integrity of food products through project scope, timelines, risk assessments, and control implementation.
- Determines whether projects are scalable, repeatable, and sustainable

- Tackles ill‑defined problems (e.g., emergent nonconformities, evolving customer specs, shifting regulatory interpretations).
- Selects and adapts risk‑based approaches (prioritization, CAPA, validation/verification) without precedent in some cases.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field Required
- 10+ years experience in food testing, manufacturing, quality assurance or regulatory affairs Required
