Job Description

Oversee planning, scheduling, execution, and reporting of all mandated exercises, drills, simulations, and dry runs under the Emergency Response Plan, Oil Pollution Emergency Plan / Oil Pollution Prevention Plan, Operational Environmental Management Plan, Integrity Management Plan ‑ Pipeline, and Security Management Plan requirements.

  • Coordinate with third‑party contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure annual updates, audits, and exercise requirements are met and submitted to agencies such as the BC Energy Regulator, Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security, Environmental Assessment Office, and other authorities.
  • Expert Knowledge of Standards CSA Z662 and CSA B836
  • Maintain accurate, complete regulatory records and prepares required reports, filings, and submissions.
  • Track changes in applicable regulations and ensures internal procedures remain aligned.
  • Ensure reporting and documentation requirements are met both internally and externally.
  • Maintain and improve systems and processes to drive expected operational performance.
  • Deliver safety and operations (KPI’s).
  • Ensure SGS and customer policies are followed while supporting daily, weekly, monthly, and annual compliance activities.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and make sure solutions are communicated, implemented, sustained.
  • Perform required safety and operational audits (Behavior Based Observations and Field Level Risk Assessments) and communicate findings to management.
  • Assist with special projects, ad hoc initiatives, and operational compliance priorities as assigned.
  • Provide expertise to site leadership to coach and develop a safety, quality, and business-oriented team
  • May be assigned special projects to support the business. This can include new locations start up, specific reporting (weekly/monthly, Safety/Operational), training (new employees, new tasks), etc.
  • Operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity.
  • Provides guidance to others, including indirect reports, peers, or managers

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field (eg. Regulatory, Compliance, EH&S).
  • 5 or more years of work experience in a regulatory or compliance role.
  • Marine Security Facility Officer Training
  • Incident Command System L-200 Training
  • Experience reviewing regulatory guidelines and requirements.
  •  Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  •  Ability and willingness to work with a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and emergencies.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.

Additional Information

Wage: $48.07 - 51.55 an hour  based on experience + Benefits.
