Responsibilities to the Organization

  • Contribute to the strategic business agility planning for the whole organization
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of applicable standards for Agile processes across teams
  • Develop, collect, maintain, and use learning materials between teams
  • Develop dashboards of the health of the organization that improve transparency. This includes but is not limited to metrics and reporting.
  • Promoted, implement and maintain tooling that promotes agility, e.g. Confluence, Trello, Jira
  • Promote, grow and facilitate an Agile community of excellence
  • Provide leadership for other coaches, scrum masters and members of the agility team
  • Recruit and train new agility team (Scrum Masters/ Coaches) members.
  • Continually introduce new ideas and fresh experiments to our organization from those that we respect
  • Hold yourself and the agility team to the same principles that we hold the team accountable to
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and encourage other agility team members to do the same.
  • Drive the organization towards greater agility, outside of technology and product ownership.

Responsibilities to the Product Development Team

  • Encourage teams to adhere to the rules of scrum and their delivery
  • Hold teams accountable to their commitment to complete work to satisfy their definition of done, and escalate when necessary
  • Drive teams toward continuous improvement, e.g. help lead retrospectives to actionable outcomes
  • Facilitate impediment resolution in a timely manner
  • Facilitate team development, healthy team dynamics, self-organization, and transparency
  • Empower teams to become self-sufficient and rely less on external assistance, e.g. Scrum Master
  • Keep a positive energy to motivate and engage teams
  • Coach team(s) in the following areas:
    • the use of Agile tools and techniques to assist the team, including velocity, burnup, burndown, user story format, Kanban boards, specification by example
    • impediment removal for the impediments that they face
  • As teams mature, help them continue their continuous improvement discipline by focusing them on principles rather than processes.

Responsibilities to the Product Owner

  • Coach product owner(s) in the following areas:
    • the importance of and techniques for communication between product owner and team, e.g. day to day changes to the product backlog and sprint
    • techniques for effective backlog management
    • fundamentals and Scrum framework
    • development of a product vision
    • the use of Agile tools, including evaluation of product—market fit, validation of hypotheses, business cases and data-driven choices
    • the role of product management in a product organization (beyond product backlog prioritization)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • CSM Certification (Certified Scrum Master)
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, and empowerment
  • Experience with using Agile and Lean practices
  • Experience working with monitoring and tracking tools, including Confluence, Trello, Jira, and Survey Monkey
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High-energy, detail-oriented, hardworking, and ability to function under pressure
