Santen is seeking an External Communications Manager specialized in Corporate Communications.

The role is responsible for the planning and execution of the company’s external communication strategy to protect and enhance corporate brand reputation globally and increase corporate value.

The role will focus on strengthening strategic media relations targeting both Japanese and global media and leading in other corporate external communications activities.

Responsibilities

• 社外コミュニケーションチームを管理・監督し、効果的なパフォーマンスと協働を推進する。

• 主要なステークホルダーの理解促進およびエンゲージメント強化を目的に、社外コミュニケーション戦略とアクションプランの策定・実行を推進する。
• 社外コミュニケーション戦略に基づき、メディアリレーションおよびパブリックリレーション活動を計画・実行する。
• 製薬業界の知識と専門性を活用し、新たなパブリックリレーション活動の企画・開発・実行を主導する。
• プレスリリースやQ&Aなどのコミュニケーション資料を作成・校正・配信する。
• PR代理店と連携し、戦略的なメディアリレーションおよび露出計画を策定・実行する。
• 他部門と協力し、社外向けメッセージの一貫性を確保し、社内ステークホルダーとの調整を行う。
• 危機管理広報の計画策定および対応をリードし、企業のレピュテーションを保護する。

• Manage and supervise the External Communications team, ensuring effective performance and collaboration.
• Foster talent development through coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives.
• Continuously evolve external communications to promote key stakeholder understanding of and engagement with Santen.
• Build external corporate communication strategy and annual operation plan.
• Lead planning and execution of media relations aligned to the external communications strategy.
• Leverage pharma knowledge and expertise to lead planning, development and execution of new public relations activities.
• Prepare, create, review and deliver communications materials such as press releases and Q&As.
• Work closely with Santen’s PR agency to plan and execute strategic media relations/external exposure.
• Work in partnership with other functions and departments to ensure consistency in external messages and align communication activities with internal stakeholders.
• Leverage pharma knowledge and expertise to strengthen the team's expertise through training activities.
• Lead crisis communication planning and response to protect corporate reputation during critical situations.

Education/certification/language:

• ビジネス、コミュニケーション、ジャーナリズム、または関連分野の学士号を有すること
•  日本語（ネイティブ）、英語（読み書き・会話においてビジネスレベル）

• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, journalism or related field.
• Japanese native and English fluency (written and verbal).

Experience:

• 製薬・ヘルスケア業界の多国籍企業、または同分野のPR代理店にて、コミュニケーションまたはパブリックリレーション職で10年以上の実務経験
• チームの運営管理、業務監督、コーチングやメンタリングを通じた人材育成の経験
• 製薬業界での勤務、規制やガイドラインに関する知識および経験
• メディア、特に製薬メディアおよびライフサイエンス業界とのネットワークを有すること。
• プレスリリース、決算発表、記者会見・広報イベント、メディアタイアップなどの取り扱いを含めたメディアリレーションの経験
• リスク管理コミュニケーションおよびクライシスコミュニケーションの経験
• デジタルおよびソーシャルメディアコミュニケーションの経験を

• Minimum 10 years of working experience in communications or public relations in a multi-national company in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry or at a PR agency in the same field.
• Experience in managing a team, including supervising operations and fostering talent development through coaching and mentoring.
• Knowledge of and experience with pharmaceutical affairs, regulations and guidelines.
• Networks in media including the pharmaceutical media and life science community.
• Experience in media relations, including the handling of press releases, press conferences, financial results, events, media tie-ups, etc.
• Experience in risk management communications and crisis communications.
• Experience in digital and social media communications.
