Job Description

Global Trade Analyst 1 plays a critical role in supporting the company’s international trade operations by ensuring compliance with global import and export regulations. This position is responsible for product classification, conducting Restricted Party List (RPL) screenings, export controls, trade compliance documentation, and customs operations to mitigate compliance risks and facilitate seamless global transactions. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of international trade regulations and a strong attention to detail in managing compliance-related processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Global Trade Compliance & Risk Management

  • Conduct Restricted Party List (RPL) screenings and Denied Party List (DPL) checks to ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Support the classification of goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) frameworks.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of export license applications and compliance with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. and global trade regulations, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Maintain accurate records of import/export documentation, customs entries, and compliance filings to meet legal and regulatory requirements.

Import & Export Operations

  • Support day-to-day import and export transactions, ensuring timely processing of customs clearance and trade compliance documentation.
  • Assist in coordinating with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to resolve trade-related issues.
  • Ensure the accuracy of commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
  • Work closely with logistics and supply chain teams to mitigate trade compliance risks while optimizing global trade operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Partner with Legal, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Finance teams to align global trade compliance strategies with business objectives.
  • Assist in developing and implementing trade compliance training programs to promote regulatory awareness within the organization.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of automated trade compliance systems, including SAP GTS, Descartes, or other global trade management (GTM) platforms.
  • Support internal trade compliance audits and provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in global trade compliance, import/export operations, or supply chain management.
  • Basic understanding of global trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and CBP requirements.
  • Familiarity with Restricted Party Screening (RPS) tools and trade compliance software (e.g., SAP GTS, Visual Compliance, Descartes).

SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in reviewing trade compliance documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in export control classification (HTS, ECCN, ITAR categories).
  • Knowledge of international trade agreements, free trade zones, and customs brokerage processes.
  • Familiarity with global trade technology solutions and automated compliance screening tools.
  • Basic knowledge of customs valuation, duty drawback, and supply chain security programs (e.g., C-TPAT, AEO).
