Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Global Trade Analyst 3 to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring international trade compliance, optimizing global supply chain operations, conducting trade risk assessments, and supporting import/export control processes. This role involves working closely with internal teams (legal, logistics, supply chain, and finance) as well as external stakeholders (customs brokers, regulatory agencies, and government authorities) to enhance trade efficiency and regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Import & Export Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade laws, including EAR (Export Administration Regulations), ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctions, and WTO (World Trade Organization) policies.
  • Classify products under Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).
  • Determine export licensing requirements and coordinate with regulatory authorities (e.g., BIS, DDTC, and CBP).
  • Manage import documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin) and maintain proper recordkeeping per Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) and Recordkeeping Requirements (15 CFR Part 762).
  • Ensure proper application of Incoterms 2020 in international shipments.

2. Restricted Party Screening (RPL) & Export Control

  • Conduct Restricted Party List (RPL) screening using compliance tools to verify that transactions do not involve denied or sanctioned entities.
  • Analyze end-use and end-user screening to prevent unauthorized exports and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Maintain trade compliance databases and work with legal teams to update policies related to restricted parties.
  • Stay updated on global sanction lists, embargoes, and denied party lists from agencies such as OFAC, BIS, EU Sanctions, and UN Security Council Resolutions.
  • Implement automated screening processes using trade compliance software (e.g., SAP GTS, Descartes, Amber Road).

3. Market & Data Analysis

  • Analyze global trade flow data, tariff rates, and country-specific trade barriers to support business decision-making.
  • Track supply chain disruptions, geopolitical trade risks, and international trade trends.
  • Develop reports on import/export trends, duty exposure, and potential cost-saving opportunities.

4. Logistics & Supply Chain Optimization

  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to reduce customs duties, tariffs, and landed costs.
  • Ensure that import/export documentation is accurate to prevent delays at customs.
  • Assist in duty drawback programs and free trade agreement (FTA) compliance (e.g., USMCA, ASEAN, EU trade agreements).
  • Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory authorities to resolve trade compliance issues.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Provide leadership with insights on trade risks, compliance updates, and process improvements.
  • Train internal teams on import/export laws, restricted party screening, and trade compliance best practices.
  • Support finance and legal teams in managing trade-related tax implications and compliance risks.
  • Develop SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for global trade compliance processes.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Trade Compliance, Supply Chain, Economics, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in global trade, import/export compliance, or supply chain analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and international trade laws.
  • Experience in Restricted Party Screening (RPL) and trade compliance automation tools.

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in HTS/ECCN classification and export licensing processes.
  • Strong data analysis skills using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in semiconductor, technology, aerospace, or manufacturing industries.
  • Certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), or Certified Export Specialist (CES).
  • Knowledge of SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, Descartes, Amber Road, or similar trade compliance software.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex trade regulations to real-world business operations.
