Job Description

About the role

We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our dynamic and fast-paced environment on a 12 Month Maximum Term basis. In this role, you will act as a key liaison between Technology, Wagering, and Racing teams, as well as department leads and project squads, to drive business solutions and ensure the successful delivery of high-priority programs of work.  

As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for gathering, analysing and validating requirements, and translating them into clear and actionable development artifacts primarily in Jira.  

You will work closely with stakeholders to define scope, capture current and proposed workflows, and facilitate workshops between technical and non-technical teams. Your ability to provide strategic insights will be essential in delivering impactful business outcomes. 

This role requires a strong ability to navigate cross-functional teams, adapt to evolving priorities, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement. You will excel in the following key areas;  

Requirement Analysis: 

Collaborate with subject matter experts, stakeholders, end-users, and technical teams to gather, analyse, and document high level business requirements, both functional and non-functional requirements. Produce supporting scenarios and acceptance criteria. Conduct detailed business and system analyses to ensure customer needs are clearly defined, accurately scoped, and well-documented throughout the project lifecycle. 

Project Support: 

Assist stakeholders in preparing pre-project proposals, including project assessments, estimates, and cost-benefit analyses. Ensure all documentation meets RWWA standards and maintains a high level of clarity and accuracy. Write clear, well-structured business requirements to establish a shared understanding between business and technical teams. 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

Serve as the primary point of contact for project and opportunity requirements, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are informed and aligned when scope or project details change. Facilitate effective communication between business stakeholders and project or development teams to ensure alignment on objectives and expectations. 

Process Improvement: 

Continuously identify and implement best practices, tools, and techniques to improve business analysis processes. Actively contribute to the enhancement of the organization's Analysis Practice by sharing knowledge, refining methodologies, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications 

We are looking for someone with the following behavioural and technical skills:  

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Information Systems, Project Management, or equivalent experience.  

  • Proven experience in business analysis or development environments.   

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and project management frameworks.  

  • Able to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, fostering engagement and support for business objectives. 

  • Uses clear and compelling communication to influence stakeholders and ensure alignment 

  • Experienced in business analysis tools and techniques such as process mapping and requirements gathering. Jira, Confluence, Miro, Lucid chart, Visio and the MS suite.    

  • Excels in translating technical requirements into business-friendly language while ensuring documentation is well-organized and accessible.  

  • Capable of troubleshooting and resolving stakeholder and delivery team misalignment. 

  • Maintains a continuous improvement mindset, identifying and implementing best practices to enhance business analysis processes.
