About the role

We are seeking an experienced Risk and Compliance Team Lead to drive our operational risk management and compliance assurance activities. This is a pivotal role responsible for strengthening risk awareness, ownership and decision making across the organisation, while ensuring key compliance obligations are consistently met.

This position plays a critical role in developing and supporting a mature, integrated approach to risk and compliance that aligns with RWWA’s strategic objectives, risk appetite and regulatory environment. As the Risk and Compliance Team Lead, you will:

  • Enterprise Risk Management – Lead the coordination and ongoing enhancement of RWWA’s enterprise risk management framework, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, monitored and reported in line with organisational risk appetite.
  • Embed Risk Awareness & Ownership - Partner with business areas to embed risk awareness and ownership into operational planning, decision making and change initiatives.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation - Support the identification and mitigation of strategic, operational, regulatory and reputational risks across the organisation
  • Risk Reporting & Insights - Coordinate risk reporting, analysis and insights for senior management, committees and governance forums, escalating material risks where required.
  • Risk Registers & Assurance - Oversee the development and maintenance of risk registers, key risk indicators, control assurance processes and risk treatment plans
  • Team Leadership - Provide day‑to‑day leadership of the risk and compliance function, supporting specialist roles within the team.
     

Qualifications

About you

  • Demonstrated leadership aligned with RWWA’s values of Respect, Accountability, Connection and Excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience working with enterprise risk management frameworks, including risk assessments, control assurance and risk reporting.
  • Experience in risk and/or compliance roles within a regulated or complex operating environment.
  • Advanced communication skills to influence senior leaders and support informed decision‑making.
  • Experience supervising, coordinating or providing functional leadership to specialist roles or small teams.
  • Strong capability in preparing reporting documentation and analysis for senior management and governance forums.
  • Ability to balance assurance, pragmatism and collaboration in delivering risk outcomes.
