Job Description

The eComm Junior Photographer will be responsible for primarily shooting product on figure for our ecommerce site by following company set lighting, posing and cropping standards and working directly with stylists, photographers and management. This role is fast paced, and deadline based and will require a positive and flexible attitude. This role will be cross trained and required to shoot product on tabletop as needed as well as assist on special project shoots when needed.

  • Light, style, compose and photograph ecomm photography + a wide range of retail products both on table-top and on figure to be presented on the rue21 website.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of all web-based photography.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and technology issues
  • Orchestrate lighting set-ups and make necessary adjustments
  • Maintain day-to-day workflow/objectives to ensure tight deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Photographer, studio manager; freelance photographers and stylists, as well as the retouching and merchandising teams to accurately represent all products online.
  • Maintain proper file naming and image protocol for upload and archiving in Capture One.
  • Utilize reference guides for all lighting scenarios and image “match-back” files as needed to ensure image quality and consistency.
  • Share responsibility for photo studio workspace and equipment.
  • Assist with special projects, as needed, both on- and off-site.
  • Responsible for upkeep and care of all studio equipment and supplies

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree of higher in Photography or related field
  • Required to provide portfolio
  • 1+ year experience in studio based Photography
  • Experience with studio lighting and shooting in studios
  • Must be proficient on both PC and MAC platform
  • Knowledge of digital SLR systems
  • Knowledge of Canon cameras & Profoto lighting
  • Knowledge and understanding of Capture One
  • Sharp eye for product photography and attention to detail
  • Prior retail experience preferred
  • Retouching skills a plus but not necessary
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment
