Job Description

The Business Intelligence (BI) Manager contributes to rue21’s results by defining, analyinge and delivering solutions, in partnership with the business groups, that will be the most appropriate and effective for the stakeholders, with a focus on data and BI tools. The role will primarily interface with the stakeholders across different business functions, Enterprise Application, PMO and Infrastructure groups to deliver the enterprise BI solution. This person will be involved in in Data warehouse design, ETL process design, business requirements analysis, vendor management, data management, change management and adoption of BI tool. This role reports to the VP of Enterprise Analytics

  • Commits to supporting rue21’s vision, mission, and values of an inclusive environment and sets an example for their team or sphere of influence.
  • Lead the design of the Enterprise Intelligence solution with leadership team and vendor teams
  • Understand data from source application systems and help design the data warehouse solution Partner with vendor teams, application teams and integration teams to define integration process
  • Define attributes, KPIS and establish governance for the same Hands on experience in developing reports, SQL queries and doing ad hoc analysis
  • Strong competency in working collaboratively and communicating effectively with various departments across the organization in order to create alignment on processes that impact data
  • Help with day-to-day support current reporting solution
  • Recommend improvements to streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability, and value
  • Develop and execute detailed test plans for unit, system and user acceptance testing Help drive adoption and self-service solution for reporting
  • Partner with the business to translate business requirements into functional/technical specification or source system analysis documents
  • Support, maintain and enhance information delivery capabilities
  • Work with developers and tech team to load data and develop dashboard and reports
  • Seek to understand the business processes and problems; offer solutions based on leveraging the process and data flow
  • Respond to ad hoc analysis requests and collaborate with test resources to validate test cases and resolutions

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years’ experience in designing and managing BI solutions
  • Experience working with large-scale data and reporting tools (i.e. Data Warehouse, SQL, Tableau, Cognos) and in building effective dashboards that enable quick decision making
  • Experience in IBM tech stack a plus (Datastage, IBM Cognos)
  • Retail industry knowledge required
  • Experience with data gathering; including the ability to translate large amounts of data into actionable insights
  • Demonstrated strong logical and technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with and influence business partners
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to drive large-scale change/projects and lead enterprise-wide transition management efforts
  • Expert level project/program management skills.
  • Experience in Agile program and delivery approach is preferred
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment
