Job Description

The Social Media Coordinator will communicate, accelerate and help define the methods to position our brand through all relevant social media platforms. The Social Media Coordinator will assist with the execution of all social media strategies to increase the rue21 social following and build brand awareness while increasing traffic and sales, in stores and online. This role will be responsible for receiving creative and brand assets from counter-parts to implement social strategies. This role will also be responsible for understanding relevant metrics and Key Performance Indicators to determine the effectiveness of Social Campaigns and Platforms.

  • Assist with the implementation and execution of daily posts across rue21’s social media platforms including product highlights, launches, media and entertainment to connect with consumers
  • Work cross functionally with business partners to share social media content and approval
  • Drive and monitor community engagement
  • Work closely with brand copy to align on social messaging
  • Stay current on competitors and brainstorm ideas to implement to support key performance indicators
  • Update weekly social media reports
  • Help lead brand ambassador program
  • Partner closely with customer service team to ensure all consume inquires and issues are being solved
  • Disseminate social learnings, best practices, and policies to appropriate individuals in accordance to defined Brand standards
  • Work with legal counsel to develop and execute sweepstakes and contests
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering ways to increase traffic, followers and engagement
  • Stay up to date and ahead of changes in PII and social platforms
  • Work on creative content that ties back to seasonal campaigns or current events
  • Complete all other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
  • Prior experience maintaining or contributing to a blog a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and immersion in social media
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications; Mac proficiency a plus
  • Experience in Analytic Tools such as Google Analytics
  • Demonstrate proficiency across social media platforms- Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Tik Tok, Snapchat, etc.
  • Prior retail experience a plus
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
